ACTIVITY #1

1. In today’s discussion, what can you say about the status of maternal health in our
country. In our province?

Answer: It is stated that before the COVID 19 pandemic started, about 2600 women die every
year because of complications from pregnancy or child birth and the cases even went up to 670
additional deaths which is increased by 26%. The status of maternal health here in the
Philippines is very poor.

2. Give two (2) possible reasons why maternal health is the most neglected aspect in
community health programs. Justify.

Answer: Socioeconomic factors and geographic areas. Low Socioeconomic factor is one of the
risk factor for maternal mortality. When Socioeconomic status is low, medical care is
inadequate and this has been attributed to adverse outcomes specifically poor obstetric
outcomes whereas for geographic areas, the closer the geographic proximity the obstetric care
facilities were located, the more likely a pregnant women were to use institutional deliveries.

3. What is Public Health Nursing/Community Health Nursing? Will you want to be a


Public Health Nurse/Community Health Nurse as your practice in the Nursing
profession?

Answer: It is stated that Public Health Nursing refers to the practice of nursing in national and
local government health departments. Wanting to become a Public Health Nurse has to have
lots of passion in comes upon working as well as dedication but here in the Philippines, public
nurses were not being recognized highly unlike in the other countries. If I would be given a
chance to be a public nurse still, despite these, I would still accept it.

4. Your age group has no category yet for the anti-Covid 19 vaccination rollout. If it will
not be required for you students, will you still submit yourself for this anti-Covid 19
vaccination when your time comes?

Answer: Ofcourse, if it serves as a protection upon COVID-19, I would surely submit myself for
the vaccination.
5. Who among your family members are anti-Covid 19 vaccinated? Why did some get
vaccinated? Why did some refuse to get vaccinated?

Answer: My mom and my grandparents were already vaccinated for it is said that the
vaccinations are required and also it serves as protection for the virus too. No one refused to
get vaccinated
6. Is there really a need to get vaccinated? Explain your answer.

Answer: Yes, for the vaccinations lessens the rates of having the virus. The lower the risk, the
safer the surrounding becomes.
