Role that government could play to address the challenge of climate change and the policy
tool s at their disposal
Climate change is the change of weather mostly temperature for a long period of time
mostly over year. Climate change is mainly cased by human activities that involve burning of
fossil fuels like gas coal and oil. The gas emitted while burning these fuels destroys the ozone
layer. Government can help slow down or reduce the rate of climate change by plying role in
activities that reduce climate change, the government can also set rules and guide lines that
govern burning of fossils fuels. Some of the ways the government can address the challenge of
climate change are;
Restoration and protection of key ecosystems. The most important ecosystems are waters
forests. Forests contain of a collection of trees and bushes; plants take in carbon (iv) oxide which
is mostly emitted when fossils fuels are burnt. Deforestation of the amazon forest in Brazil is
accelerating climate change in that more carbon oxide gases in the atmosphere. Tress found in
the amazon forest take in millions 48 billion tons of carbon. Therefore, when trees are cut down
the level of carbo (iv) oxide in the atmosphere increases which may cause global warming which
trigger climate change. the government take the initiative to secure forests and illegalize cutting
down of trees. The government could also fund tress plantation movements to increase the
volume of forests this would help to reduce and absorb the greenhouse gases. increasing the
volume of forest automatically increases growth of other plantations such as plant species that
routes tree as their habitats
The government could fund and support small agricultural producers; large agricultural
producers are the source of water and air pollution. For instance, industry that produce large
scale meat production require a lot of space for their lives stock. Due to in crease in the nee d of
increase=in profits the industries will be forced to cut down rests and clear vegetation in the
interest of keeping more lives stock. This will increase the level of green house gases in the air
which will in turn cause climate change.to address the issue the government could promote small
scale agricultural producers who use simple and natural methods of production. If the
government increased the number of small scales farmers, they promoted it would discourage the
larger scall famers to increase their volume since most of the market will be covered by small
scale famers.
The government could promote use of green energy; green energy does not consist of
hydroelectric electricity. Many countries main growth is improve their level of development.
Increase in development may increase the level of power needed to fuel and maintain
development. With long term planning skeletons, the government can schedule improvement of
green energy such as geothermal and solar energies. The government could also make sure that
area enriched with green energy sources such as wing and geothermal electricity make use of this
green energy other than shipping in hydro electric power. The government could also support
and fund scientific research centers that are involved in finding how green energy could be
produced in large scale.

The government could curb short lived climate pollutants; carbon iv oxide is one of the
greenhouse gasses that is very hard to stop its emission to the atmosphere since it has existed in
the atmosphere even before the industrialization period. The other greenhouse gases in the
atmosphere only last for a short period if time in the atmosphere may be a few days or years. that
being the case it’s easier to deal with short lived climate pollutants that carbon iv oxide.
examples of other sources of green house’s gases include. Methane soot and hydrofluorocarbons’
government in this case could set regulation to machines and projects that emit such gases in the
air to help fight climate change in the short run. Continued increase in these actions would
reduce the number of pollutants being emitted in the air thus reducing the rate of climate change.
The government should focus more on adaptation than reducing the rate of climate
change; in the second climate adaptation programmed (NAP) the government lays ways to
respond to climate change risks. Health issues is one of the challenges of climate change. some
communities have already been affected by the short time of climate change and may be more
affected with time. The government at this stage should focus more on how the communities will
cope up with the situation. The government should concentrate more on resilience strategies and
increase safety and defense of the communities from the climate change.in the real since the
methods of fighting climate change are cheaper than the methods of adaptation it’s better to give
adaptation the priority since human lives matter. What the government could do to increase the
adaption level of the vulnerable community is by funding seminars and discussions fueled to
come up with ways to adapt to the climate change and commit to the discussion by offering the
required resources so that its citizen could prepared on how to deal with greater climate changes
effect. Research councils play the best role of climate change adaption strategies. other parties
like natural environmental research council (NERC) have also supported the research.
Talking of the roles that government could play to address the challenge of climate
changes the government needs to have policy tools at their disposal to ensure that all their effort
to reduce prevent climate change to do not go to waste and to make sure the rules they set are
observed. The formulation of policy making is done by selected persons by the government that
is intergovernmental panel on climate change (IPCC) that provide scientific assessment over a
certain period of time, its effects and oncoming risks, and adaption and mitigation strategies.
Some of the policy tools include;
Feed in tariff (FIT): this is a policy tool that is formulated to promote investment of green
energy or renewable energy. This tools normally involve government promoting the
development in the early stages.by promoting development of renewable energy there will be a
decrease in the units of nonrenewable energy being used that way reducing the amount to carbon
and greenhouse gases in the air. The Paris agreement also requires the countries to set emissions
declination pledgees. This is done by avoiding hazardous climate change by restricting global
warming to go above 2 degrees Celsius. the decarbonization policy tool; this tool mainly focuses
on supporting an economic system that reduces and covers up the emission of carbon dioxide.
This could be done by running an economy with green energy.

In conclusion natural physiologies around the globe are being affected by climate change
mostly increase in temperature changes. For instance, when carbon combines with moisture in
the air it leads to formation of acid rain which contaminates the natural water system and
destruction of property. Climate change side effects are more costly than adoption cost therefore
its better to make haste while the sun shines. We should not take any chance or opportunity that
would make the issue worsen prevention is better than cure. Never the less the government
should make sure that its citizen has the best of life I the country that means the government
should by all means prevent climate changes by making sure the policies set are being observed
