1. What is a trial pack?
trial pack is a set of worksheets available in pdf format that you can use for new students
A
who are enrolled only for trial classes.

2. Which grades and topics does the trial pack cover?

e have over 50 trial pack pdfs available. These cover all grades (grades KG to 7). Within
W
these grades, we cover the top 6 or 7 most important topics.

3. What does the trial pack consist of?

Each trial pack pdf has 9 worksheets from the 1st module of the workbook of that topic.

4. Where can I download the trial pack PDFs?

ou can download these packs from the Cueteacher app. It is available in the Academic
Y
Resources section.

5. How should I use the trial pack?

• The trial pack is meant to be used only for trial students.
• You can print any topic that you or the child’s parent wants the child to learn.
• If the student gets enrolled for full-time classes then you can order the workbook and
may skip these sheets from the workbook.
• If the child has finished all 9 worksheets of a topic but has a few more trial classes left,
then you can download the sheets for the next topic.
• s the student is on trial, skipping a few questions may not be a good idea. Hence
A
ignore the stamps on the worksheets that say “At home” or “50:50”.

Step 1: Take out the biggest square from the fraction shapes and place it on the table.

Step 2: Find exactly two shapes that can be put together to form a square identical to the one chosen
in Step 1.

(a) What can you say about the two shapes? Tick () the correct option.

The shapes are identical. Yes No

(b) If we consider the square as 1 whole, we could say that this whole can be made of
2 identical parts. Tick () the correct option.
True False

1
So, each part is a fraction of this square and can be numerically represented as .

Note that you have divided the square using two equal triangles.

Step 3: Divide the square below into two equal parts such that the parts are not triangular. (Use a
pencil and ruler.)

(a) Tick () the correct option.

(i) Can a shape be divided into equal number of parts in more than one way?

Yes No

A factory produced 49 toys, of which four-sevenths of the toys were broken. How many of the

total toys were not broken?

Suhas used to take twenty minutes to walk to his school. Recently, he bought a new cycle.

Now he takes only three-fourths of the time he used to take earlier to reach school. How many

Like Fractions
Consider the following figures.

A B C

1
Each figure represents one unit (or one whole). Figure A represents the fraction , Figure B
4
2 3
represents the fraction and Figure C represents the fraction .
4 4
Note how in each figure the numerator is equal to the number of shaded parts and the
denominator is equal to the total number of parts.

In each case, the whole is divided into 4 parts; only the number of regions (parts) that have
been shaded is different.

Now consider the following strips.

2 3
Each strip represents one unit. The fractions represented by the strips D, E and F are ,
5 5
4
and respectively.
5
Fractions like these — that have the same denominator but different numerators — are called
“Like fractions”.

Comparing and Ordering of Like Fractions

2 3
Suppose we are asked to determine which of or is the larger. Representing both
5 5
fractions on a number line 1 unit long gives us

O A

0 1 2 3 4 5
5 5 5 5 5 5
O A

0 1 2 3 4 5
5 5 5 5 5 5

3
Since the shaded region (OA) in the second figure is clearly the larger, the fraction is larger
5
2 3 2
than . We represent this by writing > .
5 5 5

3 4 5
In a similar fashion, we can compare , and .
6 6 6
O A

0 1 2 3 4 5 6
6 6 6 6 6 6 6
O B

0 1 2 3 4 5 6
6 6 6 6 6 6 6

O C

0 1 2 3 4 5 6
6 6 6 6 6 6 6

We see here that the shaded part (OC) is the longest. OB is the next longest with OA being
5 4 3
the shortest part. Taken together, this tells us that > >
6 6 6
Note: When comparing fractions in this way, it is important to make sure that each figure
represents 1 unit and that their shapes are identical. (No one visual model is the best.
It is a good idea to use the model you are most comfortable with.)
