PART 1: IMPORTANT POINTS OF WORK IMMERSION

INTRODUCTION

Work immersion is a key feature in the Senior High School curriculum and refers to the
part of that consists of 40 hours of hands-on experience or work simulation which Grade 12
students will undergo to expose them to the actual work setting and to enrich the competencies
provided by the school.

Since 2017, the Work Immersion Program for senior high school students has been
implemented by the Filipino Government’s Department of Education (DepEd) and supported by
The Asia Foundation’s Coalitions for Change (CFC), working alongside national and local
government agencies, private and public enterprises and nongovernmental organizations. This
aims to better equip senior high school students for college, work or business; develop life and
career skills; and have attitudes, appreciation and respect for work. It also allows them to have a
smooth transition from school to work after they gain valuable experience.

Work Immersion is indeed a crucial stage for a graduating student, this is considered as
the stepping stone for the students to practice and develop themselves preparing for the course
they’ll be choosing soon. It helps them enhance their skills and train their mind to do the things
they believe they couldn’t. Many students felt so uneasy when it comes to their lacks of things,
but having this beneficial activity helps them to realize that they can’t do it perfectly yet they can
try. In this phase, Students may realize how their target course works and for them to apply their
ideas on what they had learned during this Immersion. It makes them properly decide if that
course suits them or not.

Work immersion is an excellent way to prepare students for the next stage of their
learning journey. It is a crucial activity for us grade 12 students as we prepare for our future
careers. It also allowed us to gain experience for the job that we may soon have and the course
that we will be taking.
OBJECTIVES OF WORK IMMERSION

The K to 12 Basic Education programs’ purpose is to discover, improve and develop the learners
Learning Competencies and to guide the learners to pursue their chosen career. And to develop a
better nation. The work immersion is under the K to 12curriculums. It gives opportunities to the
learners:
1. To develop a better communication.
2. To adapt a new environment.
3. To improve, develop, and apply their competencies.
4. To prepare them for employment. Learners are distributed in different establishments, offices
and Laboratories as their work place for their work immersion/actual job. Through company’s
partnership, they are expected to help the learners in their work immersion, to give them the
opportunities, to have or experience perform actual job, for new learning’s. To make the learners
1. Improve their knowledge and skills to be more productive.
2. To develop a good communication and good relationship towards others.
3. 3.To build up work ethics, attitudes, and the value of works.During the work immersion in
Senior High School, the learners develop a good social interaction, that will help them to build-
up and maintain a good relationship towards others, work immersion gives them a chance to
apply what they have learned about their specialization for their improvement and development
of their skill and to increase their knowledge and for the preparation of employment, for
proceeding in the higher education.
The objectives written above was guided by policy to:

WORK IMMERSION HIGHLIGHTS
The highlight of our work immersion is that we are completing all of our tasks. As a work
immersion student, experts were extremely helpful in enhancing our skills and understanding
how things work, how innovation is a priority today, and how something wonderful was
accomplished through a challenging process.
For the days we encountered during the deployment, it made us realize how grownups
operate, how professionals work, and how we will work if we ever get to that point. We realize
that if you get to enjoy what you were doing, you will not get tired and feel bored.
A solid working connection is extremely beneficial to innovation. We, as students, and
they, as superiors, were invited to celebrate one of the staff's birthdays, and it became far too
comfortable as a result of their generosity. And, in return, we are open to and eager to learn from
their recommendations, opinions, and directions.

EVALUATION FORM
PART 4: REFLECTION

PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED

One of the problems we encountered is limited information about what we were going to do

inside the office. It includes the misunderstanding through the task they had given to us yet it

made us learn more about it. I would also like to address that one of our members’ passions is

medicine and she was deployed in city planning where she doesn't understand what it is.

SUGGESTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

 This work immersion has significance and is advised to students enrolled in the same

strand or program as us. This may assist to have a better future.

 This work immersion has importance and recommends to institutions so that they may

evaluate the results and then advance, improve, and support similar programs for their

students.

 Community immersion allows individuals who are not familiar with the people and

communities where they will work to immerse themselves in these settings. This gives

them the opportunity to reflect on their assumptions, attitudes, and knowledge base on

their profession and to gain cultural competence.

CONCLUSION

Working in an office makes us realize how hard and important it is to have a job. Being a

Work Immersion student is really vital for us to be prepared for our incoming professions. It will

also help the student to gain enough knowledge for the courses that they prefer and train us on

how to be a good employees. Seeing how things work in our workplace and how healthy the

environment inspires us to strive and do better. At first we encountered a lot of problems since

each one of us lacked knowledge about the tasks that they were given but as we go on and try to

communicate with our co-workers, they help us to face our problem and enlighten us so that we

could finish our tasks on time. We build good relationships with them and also a healthy

environment by following those ethics that we discussed before we enter the office. As a result,

we finished our tasks on time, faced our fears and problems such as asking questions and some

advice from the employees so we could gain more information and we also learned our lessons

before leaving the office. We observed a lot of things that we could apply in the near future and

we can say that they help us to become immersed. Through this Work Immersion we learned the

etiquettes in the work place that we can use in the near future.

SUMMARY OF WORK IMMERSION DUTY

DAY 1
On April 17, 2023, we were told to arrive before 7:00 a.m. to assemble according to our
group in work immersion and attend the flag ceremony at Bulwagan ng mamamayan. As soon as
the Flag Ceremony is finished, we were instructed to follow the head for our deployment as we
were assigned as work immersion students in different offices. We were deployed in the City
Planning and Development Office (CPDO). At first, we were told about the information of the
office and instructed to do some tasks. A Project Proposal and a Work Immersion plan was our
task to be finished within that day. We finished the task and passed the soft copy to the
supervisor. As our vacant, we explore the City Hall. At exactly 5:00 in the afternoon, we logged
out and safely be back to our home.

DAY 2

On the second day, we arrived at the workplace around 7 and 8 a.m. and went straight to
OSM, which is the location where we stay inside the office. We asked one of the employees how
things operate at the CPDO and how many divisions there are to be included in our work
immersion plan, and it turned out to be three: the Zoning Section, the Administrative Section,
and the Planning Section. As soon as we finished the revision of the task, one of the bosses in the
work assigned us to do a city plan in which we will turn the city into a township that is livable
and consider it as a place for work, leave, and play. Returning to the OSM, we began to organize
the project's execution as a group of work immersion participants. We started a draft of the
project and finished it before the time out. At exactly 5 p.m. we logged out and were called to
assemble at the lobby to check our attendance. After that, we had our way home.

DAY 3

On the third day, same as before, we arrived at the office between 7 a.m to 8 a.m. We
went straight to the OSM office of spectrum management to continue the given task. Throughout
the day, we draw a site using the site plan drawing in a piece of folder since they do not have an
illustration board. We assigned each other to manage and separately do parts to finish our
projects. Some do the colors, the description, the drawing, the plan, and the finishing outline
marks. We started in the morning and throughout the afternoon and finishes it before the time
out. The finished project will be presented the morning after the day. At exactly 5 p.m. we
logged out and go our way back home.
DAY 4

On the fourth day morning, we presented our project to the boss; Maam Beck, who
assigned us to do it. We completely and successfully delivered our insights into how our city
works. After the presentation, we received accomplishments and pieces of advice that will bring
us to do better in the future. Returning back to the OSM, we were proud of ourselves for
finishing our task, and at the same time, some thoughts came in that there is something I wish we
did. In the afternoon, we passed the hard copy of our tasks: the Project Plan, Immersion Plan,
and Our Project site to our supervisor. At exactly 5 p.m. in the afternoon, we logged out and go
straight to our home.

DAY 5

On day 5, we thoroughly brainstorm what we learned and did throughout the work
immersion. Some staff members congratulated us on being responsible work immersion students,
thus we sometimes misunderstood some of their instructions. It has been a pleasure having
CPDO as our work immersion office. It creates a beautiful and memorable experience. We are
more likely to participate in teamwork and to complete tasks as assigned. It has brought us a lot
of lessons, knowledge, and amazing experience throughout the last 5 days of our immersion.
And, day by day, this immersion was one of the most incredible paths we'd ever taken.
