PRE- GRADE QUARTER/DOMAIN DATE & TIME

SERVICE LEVEL
TEACHER
7 THIRD QUARTER February 27,
2023

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content The learner demonstrates understanding of the key
Standard concepts of geometry of shapes and sizes and
geometric relationships.
B. Performance The learner is able to create models of plane figures
Standard and formulate and solve accurately authentic problems
involving sides and angles of polygon.
C. Learning  Define point, line and plane
Objectives  Represent point, line and plane using concrete
and pictorial models
II. SUBJECT MATTER

- Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELC)
C. Materials PowerPoint Presentation, laptop, & TV
D. Values  Creativity
Integration  Determination
III. PROCEDURES PRELIMINARIES
Preparatory PRAYER
Activities (The teacher will instruct the students to stand for the
prayer)

GREETINGS
(The teacher will send her greetings to the class)

CLEANING
(The teacher will instruct the students to pick up some
pieces of trash or garbage and arrange the chairs
properly)

CHECKING OF ATTENDANCE
(The teacher will check the attendance by collecting the
names of absent)

Development REVIEW
Activities (The teacher will conduct a review for the previous
topic about Undefined Terms in Geometry)

Motivation (The teacher will ask the students to recite the poem
and ask them what the poem is all about)

Points and lines.
Activity (The teacher will let the students familiarize some
words that are related to the lesson by arranging the
jumbled letters)

Direction: Rearrange the jumbled letters to form the

word that is describe in the objects.

1. NILE

2. TOPIN

3. NAPLE

Analysis (The teacher will ask the students)

 How were you able to guess the word?
 Did you find it easy?
Abstraction UNDEFINED TERMS IN GEOMETRY
(The teacher will start the discussion by showing the
lesson through a PowerPoint Presentation)

 GEOMETRY

Definition:

Geometry comes from two Greek words: geo, meaning

"earth," and metri, meaning "measurement,” thus the
word geometry means "earth measurement." It is a
branch of mathematics that deals with the sizes,
shapes, positions, and properties of all things around
us.
In Euclidean geometry, the geometric terms point, line,
and plane are all undefined terms and are purely
mental concepts or ideas. However, we can use
concrete objects around us to represent these ideas.
Thus, these undefined terms can only be described.

 POINT

Definition:

A point is a location in space with no dimension. It has

no length, width, or thickness.

Figure:
Dot (•)

How to name a point?

In naming a point, we use a capital letter.

For examples,
• A, read as point A
• B, read as point B
Real-life Examples:

 tip of a pen
 tip of a needle

 LINE

Definition:

A line has no thickness, but its length extends infinitely

in both directions. Also, two points can determine a line,
that is, we can draw a line using two points.

Figure: Straight mark and has two

arrow heads on opposite ends.

How to name a line?

A line is named by a single lowercase script letter or by

any two (or more) points that lie on the line.

For examples,
Read as: line JD, line DJ, or line m

Real-life Examples:

 louvers of a window
 hair strand
 line guides on intermediate paper

 PLANE

Definition:

A plane is a flat surface that extends infinitely in all

directions. It has infinite length and width but has
thickness.

Figure:

How to name a plane?

A plane is named by a single capital script letter or by

three points in the plane that are not on the same line.
For example,

Read as: Plane XYZ

Next example, point C lies in plane M.

Real-life Examples:
 Blackboard
 Flat-panel television screen
 Cellphone screen

Application (The teacher will give an activity to check if the

students understand the lesson)

Direction: identify whether the object is a

representation of a point, line, or plane.

1. Ruler
2. Tip of a pencil
3. Handkerchief
4. Hair strand
5. Cellphone screen

Generalization In Euclidean geometry, the geometric terms point, line,

and plane are all undefined terms and are purely
mental concepts or ideas. However, we can use
concrete objects around us to represent these ideas.
Thus, these undefined terms can only be described
IV. EVALUATION

Direction: Illustrate each of the following and label the diagram.

1. point B lies in plane M

2. line CD
3. point W
4. point F
5. line AT

V. ASSIGNMENT
Read and study in advance the subsets of lines.
