DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 7

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the discussion, the students are expected to:
a. Define basic concepts in terms of geometry
b. Describe the basic concepts and terms that are present in the foundation of
geometry
c. Sketch the intersection of line and plane
d. Cite different things using basic concepts and terms in geometry by appreciating
it in real life situation

II. SUBJECT MATTER

a. Topic: Represent point line and plane using concrete and pictorial
models
b. Reference/s: fundamentals in mathematics 1elvirra d.arellano,et al
pages 99-103
c. Skill/s: representing points, line and plane using concrete and pictorial.
d. Value/s: discipline, cooperation, respect, awareness
e. Materials: manila paper, pentel pen and activity sheet
III. PROCEDURE

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS’ ACTIVITY

Preliminary Activities
A. Preliminary Activities
a. Daily Routine
Greetings Good morning, ma’am!
Prayer (A student leads the prayer)
Classroom Management (The students arrange their chair and pick up the
pieces of dirt)
b. Activity/Review

Who wants to recall the discussion we had last Last meeting, we talked about,
meeting?
Exactly!

B. Motivation

To bridge us to our next topic. Let us

have first a warmup drill. Are you ready
class?
(The students will perform the activity)

I will you show you set of pictures they

you are going to identify what are the picture all
about.

(The teacher will show the picture)

Very (The students present their outputs)
good! The
picture is a
plane. Class, do you think this image

C. Lesson Proper

Presentation of the lesson

(The students are listening attentively)
Today we will learned the” basic
concepts and terms in geometry”

But before that I will discuss first the

Objectives of our lesson.

At the end of the lesson, you are

expected to:

(the teacher will ask the students to read

the objectives) 1.define the undefined terms in geometry.
2.discribe the concepts that present the
foundation of geometry.
3.sketch the intersection of lines and plane.
4.cite the different things that are undefine terms
by appreciating it in real life situation

D. ACTIVITY

To bridge us to our topic today. let us

have an activity entitled “find me through (The students are listening attentively)
this jumble words”

I will divide you into three group. (The students will go to their respective group
This will be the group 1,2 and 3. each mates)
group will be given a task card.
 TPION  POINT
 INEL  LINE
 ANPLE  PLANE

(The teacher will roam around and

wait for the group who will finish it
first)

E. ANALYSIS
Base on the activity you do can you
name object/things inside the classroom POINT-tip of ballpen
that will present a point, line, and plane. LINE-Id. lace
PLANE-notebook
Very good!

F. ABSTRACTION

Using the picture, you observe and the

word that you rearranged we will discuss
the "basic concepts and terms in
geometry “the word is point, line and
plane.

Which among the following do you think

The correct answer is letter a.
is the best description of a point?

a. any location in space represented by

a dot and it has no dimensional
because it has no length, no width,
no thickness
b.an idea that you try to make other
people accept or understand.
who wants to answer?
You’re racing your hand.

Very good! We use the capital letter to name a

point. For example, point A
● ● ● ●
A B C D The name of the point on the figure is point a,
point b, point c and point d.
Base on the definition, what do you think is
the name of the point?

Excellent! Who can give example of a point that

you can see inside the classroom?

Very good!
Base from the images of a line
E
In name a line, we use lower case or any two
M H points on the line. Therefore, the name of this line
This figure is an example of a line can anyone is line o or line km.
can read on how can use a line?

Yes, very good! how about this figure?

Very good!
B

A C
Base on the images about plane, what do you The correct answer is letter a.
think is the best Description of a plane?
a. a plane is a set of points in an endless flat
surface.it is 2- dimensional, because it has
length and width.
b. A plane is a tool for (something)or shaping
a board surface

Correct! In naming a plane, we may use 3

coplanar points that are lying on the
sameplane.in this figure what do you think is
the name of the plane.

●A
●B
●C

Yes, very good!

 P
 A
 N
 E
 S
 A

 M
 A Collinear points are points that lie on the same
 R line.
 J
 S
Base on the figure, what do you think is a (The students will sketch /draw example on the
collinear point? board)

Exactly! Can you show you own collinear

points?

Coplanar points are points that are lying on the

● ● ●
same line.
A B C
(The student will sketch /draw on the board)

What do you think is a coplanar point?

C
D
A
B

Excellent! The next figure we have is an

example of intersecting lines.
Intersecting line are lines that intersect at one
A B point.
E
C D

What do you think is intersecting line?

Very well said!

Let see this figure Parallel lines are lines that do not must or
intersect.

 Window grills
This is an example of a parallel line.do you  Legs of chair
have any idea what parallel lines? Sides of a blackboard

very good! Now who can give me an example

of a parallel lines inside the classroom

very good!

G. APPLICATION

with the same grouping a while ago, we are

going to find objects/things around the (Each group are doing their task)
classroom that will represent a point, line,
plane, intersecting and parallel lines. I will give
you 2 minutes to this task.

Each group will present their task /work.

(Presentation of work of every group)
All of you did a job well done! Let’s all clap our
hands to everybody. (The students are clapping their hands)

H. GENERALIZATION

Let us sum up what you’ve learned. how can

you name a POINT? A naming a point we use a capital letter.

What about the difference between collinear

and coplanar points? The collinear points are points that lie on the
same line while the coplanar points are points
that lie on the same plane.
What about the meaning of a line?
A line is a set of points that goes on and on in
both direction without ends it is also one
dimensional.
Very good! I think you’ve learned a lot to our
topic today. I know that you can do this short
quiz.

IV.EVALUATION
a. direction: answer the following question in a one whole sheet of paper. Identify
what is being asked using the figure below.

P
A

1.name at least two line.

2.name at least give 5 points in the figure.
3.name s coplanar points.
4.name a coplanar point.
What is the intersection of?
a. P and line AR
B. P and line LE
C. Line LE and line AR
d. P and Q

V. ASSIGNMENT
1.research about the slope of parallel and perpendicular lines.
2.give at least two example on how use get the slope of a parallel and perpendicular
lines
