I. Overview
Description of the new VERSA III electric lubrication pump
The new VERSA III electric lubrication pump is a gear pump, which is based on the original
VERSA III electric lubrication pump. Compared with the original VERSA III pump, its structure
is more reasonable, its performance is better, the scope of application is more extensive,
the self-priming performance is greatly improved, the volume efficiency is higher, the
viscosity can be used in 20~2000cst of lubricating oil. The pump is available in 2 litre, 3
litre, 4 litre and 6 litre tanks, with the 4 litre tank available in plastic or metal and the
6 litre tank in metal. The pump is equipped with a level switch and, depending on the
application, a pressure switch, which can be connected to the SM-A, SM-NA or SM-B1 programmer
on the pump, or to the user's main equipment programmer system, which enables the level of
the oil in the tank, the pressure of the delivery system to be monitored, and the equipment
for the lubrication cycle. It can also be combined with a metering unit (MU) to form a SLR
lubrication system for proportional lubrication of the lubrication points or a PRG
lubrication system with a Progressive Part Gauge (PRG).
The new VERSA III electric lubrication pumps are used in a wide range of centralised
lubrication systems for machine tools, plastics machinery, textile machinery, light industry
machinery, printing machinery, escalators and transport machinery.

IV. Product Features


1. The oil pumps are equipped with single-phase or three-phase motors, both with thermal protection.
2. The motor, level switch and pressure switch can be connected to a SM-A, SM-NA or SM-B1 type
programmable controller on the pump, or to a programmable control system on the user's main equipment,
thus enabling automatic control of the lubrication function.
3. When using the PDI, the running time is controlled by a pressure switch and the stopping time can
be set and controlled by the programmable control system.
4. When using a metering unit (MU), the start and stop times can be set and controlled by the
programmable control system.
V. Use and commissioning of pumps and programmable controllers
I.2-litre, 3-litre, 4-litre or 6-litre lubrication
pumps with pointing buttons are used in the following
ways.

(1). When installing for the first time, connect the


lubrication system to the piping and the dosing device or
metering parts as required. Note: Make sure that there are
no leaks in the lubrication system and in the piping and
parts!

(2). Add clean lubricating oil to the pump's oil tank


and refuel to the height range shown on the level line.

(3). Remove the cover from the top of the pump and
connect it correctly according to the electrical wiring
diagram inside the cover. When using a 380V motor, the
wiring must ensure that it rotates in the specified
direction.

introduction line; L is connected to the controller
output, L' is connected to the controller input. (4). When
there is a pressure switch, the two lead wires of the
pressure switch are connected to two yellow bullet-shaped
male pre-insulated connectors, working in the form of: no
pressure normally open, 1.4MPa closed, 1.4MPa closed,
1.4MPa closed.

1.4MPa closed, contact capacity: 220V, 1A.

(5). The liquid weeping switch is configured inside the


pump, the working form is: normally open with oil, closed
without oil (remove the oil float and reassemble it after
adjusting the direction to change the working form)
contact capacity 220V, 0.1A.

(6). The pump casing is reliably grounded or zeroed,


and fitted with a cover to prevent the risk of electric
shock.

(7). Snap the pump on the "spot oiling" button next to


the word, spot run the pump, pre-filling, exhaust the air
in the lubrication system, until each lubrication point
are out of oil.

(8). Start the main unit for work.

Note: If the pump is connected to the programmed


control system on the main equipment, the running 2 and
stopping times are all controlled by the programmed
control system on the main equipment, but the pump is

pressing the pointing button on the pump.
Ⅱ.2 litres or 6 litres lubrication pump with SM-B1 type programmable controller use
and commissioning method: (1). When installing for the first time, connect the
lubrication system according to the requirements of each pipeline and quantitative oil
filler or metering parts. Note: Make sure that there are no leaks in the piping and
parts of the lubrication system!
(2). Add clean lubricating oil to the pump tank and refuel to the level indicated by
the liquid line. 6
(3). Remove the cover from the top of the pump to reveal the SM-B1 programmer inside the pump. At the same time, the terminals inside the pump are arranged and wired as shown in the diagram

(2). The interval time of the pump can be set by changing the state of the eight-port address
switch on the programmable control. The intervals can be superimposed and are continuously
adjustable from 1 to 255 minutes in units. The relationship between the state of the eight-
position address switch on the programmable controller and the interval time is shown in the
following table.

For example, if you set the interval time to 130 minutes, you can dial the address switch position 2 and 8
to ON, and the rest of the positions remain OFF, i.e. 2+128=130 minutes.
(2). After setting, put on the cover to prevent the risk of electric shock.
(3). Connect the two blue bullet-shaped male insulated connectors on the pump's power lead-in line to the
power supply line and the yellow and green wires to earth.
(4). When the power is switched on, the motor runs for 10 seconds (the running time is not adjustable and
has been cured in the computer), i.e. the red light flashes 10 times, then the green light comes on, at
which point the motor stops running and enters the interval timing.
(5). When the pump is stopped, it can still be activated by an external button to start the pump working
(but the red light does not flash at this point).
(6). When the lubrication system is equipped with a pressure switch, after the system pressure reaches the
rated working pressure, the pressure switch closes and the computer issues a stop signal after a 4 second
delay. At this point, the red indicator goes out, the green indicator lights up, the motor stops running
and the computer enters the intermittent time timing.
(7). When the liquid level in the tank is lower than the normal level, the level switch closes and the
computer issues an alarm signal, at which time the green indicator flashes and the motor stops running.
When the liquid level in the tank is back to normal, the motor can be restarted for work.
Ⅲ.SM-AC Series Controller Instructions for Use
(1). Introduction
The SM-AC series controllers are used to control a wide range of lubrication systems and can be
easily programmed to control single line damped lubrication systems (SLR), volumetric lubrication
systems (PDI), progressive lubrication systems (SRG) and pulsed lubrication systems (PULES).
(1). Wiring, faceplate display and keypad description.
a. Internal terminal wiring instructions:

① Terminals Connect to earth or zero!
② Terminals 1 and 2 are connected to the power supply (phase line, zero line is not strictly
required).
③ Terminals A0, A1, A2 are fault relay contact output ports (A0, A1 normally closed, A0, A2
normally open), which can be connected to the alarm or host controller.
④ Terminals 3 and 4 are connected to the load (pump motor or solenoid valve, etc.).
⑤ Terminals 5 and 6 are connected to the low oil level signal detection switch (this switch
closes the controller alarm).
⑥ Terminals 7 and 8 are connected to the pressure switch (normally open) in mode 2 and to the
oil supply cycle switch in mode 3 (the switch state is arbitrary).
b. Panel display.

The display window has four digital tubes for displaying the system operating status and
programming. The remaining three LEDs are for power indication (green), pump operation indication
(red) and low oil level alarm indication (yellow).
c.Panel keys.
“S ” Function keys: for programming step transitions and programme navigation.
“R ” Run key: for storing the programming data and starting the run.
“ ” Cursor keys: for setting the state of the digital tube flashing (cursor) bit
movement。
“ ” Setting key: Used to change the digital tube flashing bit count data in the
setting state.

(3) Operating instructions


a. Power on.
After power on the controller works and displays data before continuous power failure, if
you need to reset please follow the steps below.
Parameter setting.
① Press the "S" and "R" keys simultaneously to enter the setting mode, in which one cursor
flashes.
② Refer to the function prompt 1 digit to the left of each setting item in the flowchart
and press the " " and " " keys to modify the parameters.
③ When one setting is complete, press the "S" button to move on to the next setting. (The
same method is used to modify the parameters)
a. Running and stopping.
① Press the "R" key to store the set parameters and start operation when all data settings have been
completed.
② When the controller is in any working state, press the "R" key to restart the operation according
to the stored parameters, e.g. when the system pipeline is pre-filled with oil.
③ When it is necessary to stop a pump motor that has been started, press the "S" and "R" keys
simultaneously.
b. Programme navigation.
When the controller is in any state, press the "S" 8key to browse the stored parameters without

affecting the state at that time. Stop the key for a moment and it will return automatically.
c.Alarm.
When the controller is in any kind of alarm state, the internal fault relay operates and the pump
stops.
(3) Control mode description.

The user should prefer the corresponding control mode according to the configured
lubrication system (see top cover description), only if you are very familiar with the
working process of the lubrication system or under the guidance of professional personnel,
you can choose another control mode.

a. Time mode (d=1): (this mode is mainly used for SLR systems)

The lubrication system is cycled according to the pre-set supply and interval times of the
controller.

b. Pressure mode (d=2): (this mode is mainly used for PDI systems)

The lubrication system's oil supply process is controlled by a pressure switch mounted on
the lubrication pump or system. The lubrication pump from the start of operation to the
system pressure up to the rated value and make the pressure switch operation of the process
time must be set in the controller to complete the alarm time, so that when the pressure
switch closed, the controller at that time data flashing 4 times, that is, a delay of 4
seconds (to ensure that the end of the line to establish pressure) after the pump operation
to stop that is to complete the oil supply process, into the interval time timing. Deny, when
the system oil supply failure (leakage, blockage, pump damage, etc.) makes the system
establish pressure for a longer time and reaches the alarm time set by the controller, both
the oil supply failure alarm signal is issued and the digital display "EEPP" (in this state
to modify the parameters should first press the "R ("R" key should be pressed to lift the
alarm before entering the setting state).

The alarm time should be set according to the actual situation of the system (length of
pipeline, size of oil supply, etc.), and is generally greater than 4-8 seconds of the normal
operation time of the pressure switch.

b. Counting mode (d=3): (This mode is mainly used for SRG systems)

Lubrication system oil supply process is installed in the oil distributor on the oil supply cycle
switch control. Lubrication pump according to the controller set the number of cycles to start
running, if the system works normally, the oil distributor on the oil outlet in turn for oil, when
the completion of an oil cycle on the cycle switch to send a signal, the controller count once,
when the number of cycles for oil to reach the controller's set value, the controller output stop,
into the interval time. Once the lubrication system fails (blockage, leakage, pump damage, etc.),
making any one of the cycle switch action time extended to the controller's internal set alarm time
(5 minutes, non-adjustable), the controller will send out an oil supply failure alarm signal, the
pump stops, and the digital tube display flashes at the current value.。

a. Pulse mode (d=4): (this mode is mainly used for PULES systems))

The mode is to control the lubrication pump to pulsation (non-continuous) way of work. For
example: pneumatic plunger and electromagnetic plunger lubrication pump, through the control
of the air source solenoid valve or drive solenoid power on and off, that is, the pulse on
and off time to achieve the reciprocating motion of the pump plunger and complete the oil
supply process. This mode can also be used for PDI systems in a supply cycle a quantitative
oil supply can not meet the requirements of the special circumstances of the need for
multiple oil supply。

VI. Maintenance and precautions.
1、This lubrication pump must use clean lubricating oil.
2、Each time clean lubricating oil is added, it should be added to the height range shown in the oil level line.
3、The oil storage tank must be cleaned once every two months, and the filter basket and the oil filter at the oil inlet must
be cleaned or replaced.
4、The pressure of the relief valve has been adjusted to 2.5±0.1MPa when the product is delivered.
5. For users requiring 110VAC or non-standard pumps with neither a programmable controller nor a push button, please
specify when ordering.
6、The oil outlet of the pump can be equipped with M8×1, M10×1, M12×1 or Z1/8 fitting according to the system pipe
diameter, please specify when ordering.
7、When the user needs to adjust the flow of the lubrication system, the running time of the programmable controller can
be adjusted. The increase of running time can make the flow of lubrication system increase, and the decrease of running
time can make the flow of lubrication system decrease.
8, the first installation and commissioning or disassembly and replacement of lubrication system parts, should first exhaust
the lubrication system in the air, in order to ensure that each lubrication point can be out of the oil, in order to pneumatic
users of the main equipment to work, otherwise the equipment will have the movement of the vice will not be timely
lubrication, and the risk of damage to equipment. 9, the pump power supply is connected, do not allow the pump to open the
top of the cover, to prevent the risk of electric shock.
