ASSEMBLY
• Sew the neck to the body. The top part of
the neck should sit between rounds 9&10 of

should sit between rounds 21&22.
• Add stuffing to the neck.
• Pin the cream piece onto the front of the
neck. The bottom of it should sit between
rounds 22&23 of the body. The first 3~ rows
of the piece should be sewed to the body &
the rest of the rows to the neck.
• Sew the cream neck piece on by sewing
around the posts of the stitches.

• Weave the tail left at the beginning of the neck piece up through the first stitch made
on the opposite side of the foundation chain – this tail will be used to sew the cream
piece to the head.
16
• Weave the tail left on the first piece of the head through to the other side of the head
(see image). Using this tail & working around the posts of the stitches, sew the piece to
the head. The magic ring at the beginning of the piece should sit over top of the magic
ring on the second piece of the head.

• Pin the head to the neck. The cream portion

of the head should line up with the cream
piece on the neck. Using the tail from the
cream neck piece, sew the neck to the head.
• Using the tail left on the blue portion of the
neck, sew the neck to the blue portion of the
head.
Add stuffing to the top of the neck as the two
pieces close.

17
• Sew the edge of the shell around the edges/sides of the rows & last row of the shell by
working around the whip stitches made when the edge of the shell was sewed together
(see images below).
• When finished sewing the edge on the shell, sew the two ends of the edge together.

• Pin the shell spikes to the shell, evenly

spaced apart. The large spikes & one medium
spike should be centered in the middle of the
shell.
First row: small spike, medium spike, large
spike, medium spike, small spike.
Second row: medium spike, large spike,
medium spike.
Sew the spikes to the shell.

18
• Using the tail left the beginning of the shell
piece, sew the shell to the body by working
around the posts of the stitches on both the
shell & body. Not every stitch needs to be
sewed – just enough to keep the shell in
place.
• Pin the tail to the back of the body.
• Using the cream tail, sew the cream part of
the tail between rounds 22&23 of the body.
Using the blue tail, sew the blue portion of
the tail to the blue portion of the body – it
should sit between rounds 21&22 to between
rounds 17&18 of the body.
• Add stuffing to the tail as it sewed on.
• Pin the front flippers to the front of the body,
they should sit on either side of the neck.
Using the same method as the tail (sewing
the cream & blue parts down separately), sew
the flipper to the body.
The top part of the blue portion of the front
flippers should sit between rounds 19&20 of
the body.
• Add stuffing to the ends of the front
flippers as they are sewed on.

should sit approximately 9~ stitches behind
each of the front flippers.
Using the same method as the tail & front
flippers, sew the back flippers to the body.
The tops of the blue portion of the back
flippers should sit between rounds 19&20
of the body.

sit between rounds 9&10 to between rounds
12&13 of the first piece made on the head, in
the center of the piece.
• Using the tail left at the beginning of the curl
pieces, curl the pieces by sewing around the
posts of the stitches between rounds 2&3.
• Skip several rounds & continue to curl the
piece until you reach the last 2-3 rounds.

• Using the tail left the end of the curl piece,

sew the curl pieces to the head. They should
sit between rounds 16&17 to between rounds
18&19 of the head.
• Sew the curls to the head.
• Using the tail left the beginning of the curl
pieces, curl & sew the pieces one last time.
• Using dark teal felt, cut 9-10 square &
triangular shapes in various sizes. Trim the
ends of the shapes so that they are rounded.

20
• Using white felt & the image below, cut the backs of the eyes out of the white felt.
• Using black felt & the image below, cut the second largest piece for the eyes out of the
black felt.
• Glue the black piece to the white piece.
• For the small part of the eyes, you can use acrylic paint or white felt. If using felt, glue
