Amigurumi Size
The size will depend on the type of yarn, hook size, amount of stuffing inserted, and your line
gauge/tension.
Usually, my amigurumis end up with 18cm (7inches) of height using a worsted weight cotton.
Yours might end up with a small variation from that.

Stitches and Abbreviations

This is a pattern for beginners to intermediate, so you should know how to read and execute
the following abbreviations and stitches:

• mr = magic ring
• ch = chain
• slst = slip stitch
• sc = single crochet
• hdc = half double crochet
• inc = increase
• dec = decrease

You should also be able to do the following:

• Change colors.
• Sew pieces and hide the remaining yarn tails inside the body, with a knot.

If there’s a technique that you don’t know yet, I recommend searching on the internet, there are
plenty of resources that teach everything step by step!

About the way this Pattern is written...
The pattern instructions are structured in a way that the increases of specific rounds are spaced
in equal stitch numbers.

For example, instead of writing: It was written like this:

1inc 1sc 1inc 1sc

1inc 2sc 1sc 1inc 1sc
1inc 3sc 1inc 3sc
1inc 4sc 2sc 1inc 2sc
⋮ ⋮

The number of stitches in both examples are the same, however, only the rounds with an even
number of sc will have a small change in which the increase will be inserted right in between
the sc, not at the start of the round.
As you can see in the picture above, the work will start becoming more like a hexagon with the
1st method, and more circular with the 2nd method.
I believe that the final result will be better if the 2nd method is used, but if you consider this
unnecessary, feel free to crochet with the simpler method.

Head & Body

Throughout the pattern, the instructions highlighted in gray should be done with the dark gray
yarn. The rest should be done in blue yarn unless otherwise stated.

18: 3sc 1dec 3sc x6 (42)
19: 1dec 5sc x6 (36)
20: 2sc 1dec 2sc x6 (30)

Before we continue, let’s prepare the eyes.

Cut two small circular pieces of white felt,
make a small hole in the center (make it so
the white is slightly visible on only one side
of the eye), and put them together to the eyes.
Then attach the eyes in the marked stitches.

Make the hole a bit off center. The white should only be slightly visible.

some more before closing the body.
33: 1sc 1dec 1sc x6 (18)
34: 1dec 1sc x6 (12)
35: 6dec (6)

Finished head & body. Fasten off with slst and close the body, but
don’t hide the remaining yarn.
Instead, get it to the bottom back of the body,
near the area where the tail will be sewn. This
yarn will be used to make a knot with the
remaining yarn of the tail, and only then we
will hide it inside the body.

Sewing Instructions
If you didn’t fill some of the pieces with stuffing, now is a good time to do it.
You can use pins for guiding and positioning pieces at the places where they will be sewn.

Important Tip: The yarn tails that are left after sewing pieces from each pair of members (2
arms, 2 legs, etc) must go through the body and then pulled out at the same point, where you
make a knot with them, cut the remaining yarn and then hide it inside the body again.

Legs

Placed 5 rounds below the head, and occupy 4 rounds.

Keep about 4 to 5 stitches of distance between the legs.

Legs attached.

Arms

Placed right below the head. It is important that the needle gets through both sides of the arm,
closing it during the process.

Arms attached.

Page | 10
Body Spike

Placed right in the middle of the yellow rounds,

front and center. It occupies 2 rounds.

Spike attached.

Snout

Placed at eye level. Align both the dark gray and blue parts of the snout and head.
Insert some extra stuffing before you close the opening.

Dark gray and blue aligned. Snout attached.

Ears

Placed after the 2nd round on the head (right where the blue rounds begin) in a relatively
straight line, occupying 6 rounds.

Ears attached. Relatively flat and straight.

Page | 11
Head Appendages

Placed after the 11th round on the head, at the eye level. Leave one stitch of distance between
the appendages. Leave two stitches in between the 2nd and 3rd ones.

Appendages attached. Aligned with the gray section on the head.

Tail

Placed below the dark gray strip, on the blue rounds. Sew it in a way that the tail is angled
upwards. The pointy detail of the tail should point downwards. If necessary, sew it more
towards the bottom so it also serves as a support to keep the amigurumi from falling back.

Tail attached.

And with that, your Pokémon is done! Great job!
