This pattern was designed for fine weighted yarn with a 2.5 mm hook. It is possible to make it with
different weighted yarn, but please be aware that more heavy yarn can have influence on certain
aspects of this pattern. Like sewing the body pieces together until the top is able to stand or No Face
being able to carry the bowl of food.

The body of No Face consists out of two pieces that will be partly sewed together at the end.
Round 1: sc 6 in MR (6)

Round 1: sc 6 in MR (6)
Round 4: join the thumb by making a sc, dec in next, sc, now back to crocheting in the arm, sc 5, dec
in next, sc 3 (12)
Its necessary to join the arms to the body before creating the mouth to avoid certain problems (a
moving iron wire that slips out of the arm). For this cut two pieces of iron wire of the size of the arm
plus around 5 centimetre(or more if your No Face is bigger) to plug into the body. Bend the tips as
pictured so it wont be able to get out of the hands.
To plug in the arms at the right spot, count 5 sc from the first sc that’s sewed together. The plug in sc
will be between rounds 23 and 24 below the 5th sc.
Continue by bending the iron wire as such that it would be difficult to move or slip. Sew the arms
between rounds 21 and 24.
It is necessary to start making the mouth at the top part, so that there will be no trouble in
determining how much rice or pellets must be put into the bottom to let the No Face stand on its
own.
Start by making a standing single crochet in any back loop from round 18.
When crocheting the first round of the mouth don’t get confused by the back loops from round 18 or
19. In the picture the back loops are pointed, make sure to only crochet in the loops from round 18.
Round 1: *sc 6, dec 1*, repeat 6 times (42)
Stuff the top lightly. Only put enough filling for it to hold shape.
This will be a repeat from the top part, but now make sure to test how much rice or pellets is needed
to make the No Face to stand. Mine was filled for more than half with rice and a little bit of polyester
filling was added to the top for the shape. Again don’t overfill the body, since you don’t want the
mouth to be getting out of the body.
Start with making a standing single crochet in any back loop of round 25.

Round 1: sc 6 in MR (6)
Round 2: inc in every sc (12)
Round 5: sc 18 (18)
Cut off yarn. If the bowl needs to be sewn on to the arms, leave a long tail for sewing. Otherwise work
the yarn away in the bowl.
2 Assembly
First start by sewing on the teeth at round 1 of the mouth. Be a bit messy, the teeth should be placed
a bit disorganized since No Face doesn’t have such a pretty smile.
Top, from left to right: short, short, long, long, short, long, short.
Bottom, from left to right: short, short, long, long, short, long, short, short, long.
Continue by sewing on the tongue on round 2 of the mouth. Then prepare the face for sewing by
working the thread away properly as pictured below. Skip the first sc and put the needle from left to
right in the loops of the second sc. Then put the needle back in the right loop from the sc where the
thread came from. Pull the loop tight until it looks like a proper sc.
Follow with sewing on the head on
the top of the body. The felt pieces
may already be cut, but glue them
on afterwards the sewing since you
don’t want the pieces to be in the
way during sewing. Pin the face
exactly in the middle with the
thread placed on the left. When
counted from the ’’first sewed sc’’,
then the bottom pin should be
placed on the 17th.
Sew the face as pictured below. Put
the needle from right to left through
two loops of a sc. Then move to the
next stitch and put the needle left to
right through two loops of the sc.
Lastly sew the thread through a loop
of the body. At the end secure it
with a knot and work away the
thread in the body
Now glue on the felt pieces to the face, below are pictures to give an idea how big these pieces must
be and how they must be placed.
After everything is glued on its time
to add a bit more detail to the face.
Cut around 20 cm(to be sure) of
embroidery threat and make a small
line under the mouth and eyes.
Enter the embroidery thread through the body, don’t pull the thread completely through but leave
some thread for securing afterwards. After sewing the lines on the face, bring the thread back to the
where the thread entered. Make two knots to secure it and pull the threads through the body to
work it away.
Continue by cutting several threads of 10 cm of light brown and brown thread. Cut some square
pieces of green felt and round pieces of pink in different sizes. Lastly cut out two brown felt sticks.
Add the threads in the bowl, occasionally add some glue to keep it in place. When half of the bowl is
filled with yarn threads add the two sticks and glue them to the bowl. Continue with adding more
threads and glue the green and pink pieces to the threads.
Lastly bend the arms until the bowl can be kept in between the arms, which should be possible if the
bowl isn’t too heavy. After this your munching No Face is done !!
