STORY

Meet Plesiosaurus Bluey!

Fun fact: Plesiosaur looked like
something between a snake and a
sea turtle. And the way he swims is
often compared to underwater
flight.
His hobby is fishing. As you know,
the main distinguishing features of
a fisherman from other people are
his fishing rod and a bucket with a
catch! These accessories are my
bonus for you. Let's crochet this cute
baby together!

DESIGNER
Good day, dear friend!
My name is Angelina. I design
the patterns for cute crochet
toys, for creative people who love
to make soulful gifts to loved
ones with their own hands. I
want people to enjoy crocheting,
shut off their brains and to be
transported back to childhood
thanks to my designs.
These toys you’ll want to love,
give and have at home. Stock
up on yarn, hook and a good
mood. I wish you a pleasant
time and crochet charming
animals.
With love,
Angelina Taranina

ON A NOTE
My finished toy was 11 cm (4.3 inches) high. I used a cotter pin, thanks to which the
head can turn in different directions. If you don’t want to use it, you can sew the
head simply to the body.
For convenience, mark the first single crochet with pin or marker at the beginning of
each round. Check the number of loops after each crocheted round (it is indicated in
round brackets).
You can choose a completely different yarn than suggested here. In this case, you
need to choose the size of the hook yourself.
Try to crochet so that the stuffing material is not visible in the toy. If you can’t
crochet more tightly, take a smaller hook.

approximately 12 stitches, don’t fix yet (see photos 1, 2).
Using the yarn needle to do from above of the eye «loose stitch» of black thread
floss (see photos 3, 4). Separate one thread and fasten with a needle «loose stitch» in
the middle of the eye (see photos 5, 6). In the same way, embroider one more «loose
stitch» 1 mm higher than the previous one, in order to get an oval shape (see photos
7-10).
Using yarn needle to do from below the eye «loose stitch» of white thread floss (see
photos 11, 12). Separate one thread and fasten with a needle «loose stitch» (see photo

Divide the black threads floss in half, embroider the nostrils and mouth (see photos
14-24).
Embroider eyebrows (see photo 25).

with the wrong side outward (see photo 26, 27).

Insert cotter pin into shim (see photo 28). Place cotter pin between 14 and 15 round
of the bottom of the head as shown on photos 29, 30.
Start stuffing the head with synthepus and continue crocheting.

21: [sc, dec]х6 (12l)
Completely fill the head.
22: [dec]х6 (6l)
Trim the thread. Pass the thread through all the loops using a yarn needle. Tighten
and secure.

NECK and BODY

Yarn A 1: 2 loops, 8sc in 2nd loop from hook (amigurumi ring) (8l)
2: [inc]х8 (16l)
Next, you need to crochet the body of yarn A and yarn C at once, alternately change
the thread, but not cutting it to get a white breast. This technique is called jacquard.
Color changing technique: when crocheting the last blue sc, insert the hook into the
loop, pull out the thread, crochet this sc to the end with a white thread (see photo
31). Then the blue thread is thrown forward, and the white working thread goes
backwards (see photos 32-34). To change the color back: when crocheting the last
white sc, insert the hook into the loop, pull out the thread, crochet this sc to the end
with the blue thread (see photo 35, 36).
It is more convenient to crochet with the jacquard only the front of the body, and the
back should only be crocheted from yarn A.
At the end of the row, when crocheting the last blue sc, insert the hook into the loop,
pull out the thread, crochet this sc to the end with a white thread grabbing it in the
place where it remained (see photos 37-39). A «loose stitch» is formed on the wrong
side (see photo 40). You need to move it forward along with the blue thread, so
when crocheting jacquard it will be inside and the wrong side will become as neat as
the front one (see photos 41-45).
3: [3sc, inc]х2 (Yarn С); [3sc, inc]х2 (Yarn A) (20l)
4: only through back loops 10sc (Yarn С); 10sc (Yarn A) (20l)
5: 10sc (Yarn С); 10sc (Yarn А) (20l)
