The Readiness Index (RI) is included to provide finer discrimination among various levels of competence. This Index is based on a combination of the competency ratings. Higher percentile rankings of 75% and
above indicate a higher likelihood of readiness for the position of Division Chief. Those whose RI falls in the lower 25% may not have developed the set of competencies required for the Division Chief position
and may need to have significant developmental experiences to meet those requirements. Those whose RI falls between the 25% and the 75%, demonstrate a mixed performance and may need more focused
development. The RI should not be construed as an index of potential, that is, it cannot predict whether the person has or does not have potential for future learning or for ultimate career effectiveness or
success.
