RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

Students learned to control distractions and manage their time while learning online.
All of the FGD participants agreed that they have learned something about their selves or
self-discoveries in online education, some of these are being able to control distractions and time
management. In fact, one of the participants claimed that online learning able student to know
how time management works. Some of them, Participant 2 and 3, suggest that engaging in
distractions while studying will not help and won’t do anything good. Participant 2 said “pagka
mayroon ng class courses, modules, or even lectures, sinasantabi ko muna yung problema kasi
mahirap silang isali and lalo na sa mga distracted” and Participant 3 stated “sasamahan ko pa ng
stress yung pag aaral ko, mas lalo ko lang di magagawa yan eh” which happens to be their self-
discoveries while learning online. Moreover, Participant 2, added a statement in some point of
discussion “yung sa business naming mga boarding ako yung nagmamanage, talagang time
management lang.” The other one, Participant 4, said “ang natutunan ko eh time management, na

Learned to use technologies better.

The student participants’ self-discoveries in online learning includes the improvement in
using technologies and gaining more knowledge about a certain equipment as expresses by one
of the paticipants, “Nadiscover ko sa sarili ko na yung ano, natuto akong gumamit ng laptop kasi

Changes in self-character.
Almost all of the participants in FGD shared their self-discoveries which can be
considered as a self-improvement or development to their character. However, not all of them
has the same changes in self-character. In fact, one of the participants see’s herself as being more
competitive while learning through online as she said, “based sa experience ko, parang nafeel ko
It can be
safe to say that these changes are caused by the environment she was in, as the paticipant also
stated that “mas naging competitive ako in terms na.. sa pressure ganon kasi ayon nga palagi
Discovers strength and weakness in studying alone or by themselves.
Part of learning or self-discovery is knowing one’s strength and weaknesses, therefore 2
of the FGD participants shared their strength or the positive experience they had in studying
alone or by themselves in online learning as expresses by the Participant 1, “ganon nga nasabi
Moreover, Participant 2
agreed on the first statement and said, “Agree ako sakanya, meron din akong natuklasan sa sarili
However, one of the FGD
participant’s self-discovery is his weakness in learning online, Participant 3 stated, “Kung may
nadiskumbre man ako sa sarili ko, yung during study online, remotely, mag isa ko sa kwarto, yon
yung ano, I can’t perform better when I’m not around many people. Kasi pag mag isa ako, don
ko nararamdaman yung halo halong thoughts mas lalo akong naiistress pag mag isa ako sa
bahay, ngayon andito ako madami akong nakikitang tao, nakakakwentuhan, nakakahalubilo, mas
better yung performance ko kesa sa online.”
