TOURISM GEOGRAPHY
- Tourism greatly impacts Intramuros because it helps acknowledge the happenings of our ancestors lives
and the colonization of the Spaniards. It remains a relevant setting in history and continues to become an
exemplary site for understanding the Spanish influence on Filipino identity. It is also good that they preserve
the place because, aside from their architectural value, they also embody our values, our cultural identity, and
historic continuity. On the negative side, the story of the history inside Intramuros opens the discussion for
dark tourism, which involves visiting sites associated with death and suffering. Tourism also caused traffic
congestion and pollution, which made the locals in the area feel suffocated.
