Exercise 1 – Use your instinct. Circle the correct form of the verb in these sentences. If both

Exercise 2 – Now let’s look at the difference between the Present Simple and the Present
Continuous tenses. Read the rules, then look back at the sentences and match one of the rules
(e.g. PS2, PC3, etc.) with each of the correct options.

Grammar Box: Present Perfect Simple


The Present Perfect Simple tense can be used to describe actions and events that have happened
‘before now’ and have an impact in the present. In this use of the Present Perfect Simple, a
specific time is not mentioned.

Exercise 2 – Look at the photos of Scott when he was 13 and now. What has changed since
then? Make Present Perfect Simple sentences. Use a verb from the first box and an object from
the second.

Exercise 3 – Talk to a partner. Imagine (s)he is an old friend you haven’t seen for 10 years.
