A. Preparatory Activity

Good morning class!
This morning we will have a game. This game is called “Charades”.
The class will be divided into 2 groups. On the board there are numbers.
Each number contain a word that they should act. Each group must have a
representative who will choose a number from 1-10, while someone is acting
the word, the rest of the members should guess the act. Each will be given
30 seconds to guess the correct word. The group who got the higher score
will be the winner.

1. Presentation
This morning we will learn about the Simple Present Tense of the
Verb. It expresses habitual action, present state or condition, future
action and general truths or facts.
a. Setting of Standard
But before that, what should a good pupil do while the teacher
is talking here in front?
How about if there are activities given by the teacher?
Very good!
Can I expect that from you?
2. Activity
I will group you into 3 groups. The group PAST, PRESENT and
FUTURE. All you have to do is to complete each sentence with the
correct form of the verb. The first group who could finish the activity
will be the winner.

Let’s read the first sentence.
Our neighbors clean our purok every Sunday afternoon.
What is the verb in the sentence?
Very good, the word clean is the verb.
The verb in this sentence is in the Simple Present Tense,
because it expresses a habitual action or repeated action.
Habitual Action – uses to refer to the repeated or regular
actions, and it is usually used with adverbs and time expression.
I have here another examples
Jackie’s puppies sleep peacefully every night.
My little sister says a prayer before sleeping.
The expressions every night, before sleeping, and every Sunday afternoon are
time indicators that signal habitual action.
