Campus Ministry Office

Saint Joseph School-Campus Ministry is an office which caters religious activities and
spiritual upliftment for students, teaching and non-teaching staff. It organizes and facilitate
all the formations related to character development and moral values for the
transformation of the well-being of a person, to be more loving human, develop personal
relationship with God, self and others.
Essence of Campus Ministry
The Campus Ministry takes care of the pastoral and spiritual needs of the entire school
community. It facilitates the creation of a community of faithful who are willing to deepen,
celebrate, and act on their faith experience. It provides opportunities for members of the
school community to develop themselves not only as efficient leaders but also as God-
fearing, religious and morally upright stewards. Among its core functions are Liturgical
Animation, Spiritual Formation, Pastoral Direction, Retreats and Recollections, Youth and
Adult Ministry and Building Faith-Communities under the inspiration of St. Joseph.
Vision-Mission Statement
The Saint Joseph School Campus Ministry is formed and envisioned with the task of
nurturing the spiritual life of the Saint Joseph School community, which is necessary for a
meaningful existence in a rapidly changing social milieu.

Its goal is to foster the total personal and spiritual development of each individual
according to one’s professed religious beliefs in order to become agents of communion of
faith, hope and love in the Campus and in the society.

Objectives
General:
The Saint Joseph School Campus Ministry aims for integral (spiritual, socio-cultural,
psycho-emotional) upliftment of the students, teaching and non-teaching staff in living
and building authentic communities of faith, hope and love.
Specific:
1. To grow in the knowledge and love of God through Liturgical services, recollections,
retreats, seminars and workshops
2. To call on and encourage members of the school community to share their God-given
talents and to minister to other’s needs by responsible and active participation in
Campus Ministry activities
3. To provide opportunities for members of the school community to deepen their
understanding of their own religious beliefs in order to authentically lived it out in their
daily lives
4. To communicate and proclaim the Gospel message
5. To provide opportunities for members of the school community to deepen their
understanding of and commitment to Jesus and his message
6. To invite and encourage involvement in and celebration of the faith community
through forms and styles of worship
7. To foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each person:
a. - helping individual realize their significance in relationship with school,
family, church and world community; and
- calling on and encouraging members of the school community to share their gifts and to
minister to others’ needs through responsible
a. anticipation /participation in the life, mission and work of the Church.
8. To raise consciousness about and encourage action regarding contemporary moral
and social problems, as well as to urge people to work toward a more just, safe and
peaceful world
9. To complement the general goals and objectives of the religion area of the school

Campus Ministry Office Core Functions


1. Liturgical Animation

Liturgy is the core activity of a Catholic School. Through liturgy, we grow in


deeper relationship with God and neighbor. The Campus Ministry leads the
members of the school community into a deeper prayer life and better
understanding and appreciation of the sacraments, especially the Sacrament of the
Eucharist and Reconciliation.

2. Spiritual Formation, Retreats and Recollection

This function of the Campus Ministry supports and nourishes the life in the
Spirit of the members of the school community by initiating and facilitating spiritual
activities under the inspiration of St Joseph. This leads them into the mysteries of
life and provides an ideal community of faith, a safe place to open-up and grow
humble in relationship with God.

3. Youth and Adult Ministry

This function recognizes the main targets and recipients of the Campus
Ministry program: the students, the faculty and the staff. The Campus Ministry
initiates and leads programs that are well attuned to the needs of the recipients and
employs approaches that suit their level and appreciation of their faith life.
4. Building Faith- Communities

The Campus Ministry leads in promoting a pleasant family and Christian


atmosphere within the campus.

Operational Guidelines
Prepare Operational Quality Plan and implement programs approved by the Directress and
School Principal upon the recommendation of the Student Affairs Officer
• Prepare meaningful and solemn liturgical celebrations in the campus

 Other special occasions and as requested by the school
 Facilitate the receptions of the sacraments
 Coordinate recollection to the faculty, non-teaching personnel and students

 Assist students and any member of the community who needs individual
consultation and spiritual direction and guidance
 Performs such other functions that may be assigned by the Directress and Principal.

Campus Ministry Coordinator


Reports to: Student Affairs Officer, Principal & Directress
Job Description: The Campus Ministry Coordinator oversees the general organization
development, supervision, and evaluation of the Campus Ministry
Program which is the spiritual and pastoral needs of the community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Leads the planning, organization, coordination and evaluation of the Campus
Ministry Program under the supervision of the Student Affairs Officer in line with
the Mission and Vision of the School.
2. Work hand-on-hand with the formation team in planning a holistic program for
students’ development.
3. Schedules all Campus Ministry liturgical and pastoral activities vis-à -vis the official
school calendar.
4. Supervises all necessary paperwork connected with liturgical activities,
recollections, retreats, or community spiritual and pastoral activity.
5. Meets with the Student Affairs Officer when needed, i.e., on occasions when
proposed activity needs approval.
6. Mobilizes students as members of the Campus Ministry in the various ministries:
Josephian Knights of the Altar and Lectors and Commentators Ministry.
7. Calls the Campus Ministry members to a regular meeting once a month and when
need arises.
8. Invites presiders for school-wide liturgical activities and supervises preparation for
such in coordination with the General Service Administrator and General Service
Office.
9. Provide a conspicuous liturgical slide during liturgical activities and celebrations.
10. Acts as liaison between the Grade 1 and 12 student who will undergo recollection
or retreats and the respective class moderators.
11. Supervises the upkeep and maintenance of the School Chapel and other area for
spiritual exercises and submits an annual updated inventory of the Chapel.
12. Performs any other such duties as may be required by the position in accordance
with the instructions and guidance of the Student Affairs
Officer, Principal and the Directress.
Retreats and Recollection
The holistic development of a child is not deemed complete without spiritual growth and
development.
A recollection or retreat is intended to be a personal encounter with God often
characterized by meditation, silence, reflection, and prayer. It primarily seeks to renew
faith that may have long been practiced but not fully internalized so as to bring about the
desired positive transformation of every human being. The idea is to bring about a spiritual
experience which can be understood by children in the hope that such an experience will
encourage positive values and behavior.
Objectives
 To give opportunity and more time for the students in prayer and contemplation
and rekindles and deepens one’s relationship with God.
 To grow spiritually and personally and be able to appreciate and be grateful of all
the blessings coming from God.
 To appreciate the beauty, sacredness and importance of silence and for self-
realizations, self-discoveries, reconciliation with God, self and others.
 to temporarily leave behind the usual distractions we all face for a time long enough
to allow relaxation and for an inner change to occur: the ongoing conversion of
heart that is critical to deepening faith.
