Eucharistic Celebration for the Youth

St. Joseph School

July 26, 2017 @ 4: 30 PM

Commentator: “Whoever has ears ought to hear.”

A pleasant afternoon to everyone!

Welcome to this Eucharistic Celebration, today,

we commemorate the feast of Sts. Joachim and Anne,
the parents of our Blessed Mother. (pause)
We are all blessed this day for God touches our hearts to
be with him despite of our busy schedules. God is always
giving us an opportunity to spend time for Him, for in Him
alone we find rest and peace.

Indeed, in this Holy Feast, we offer prayer especially to the

people who are blind in God’s grace and love. Likewise, we
also offer our prayer to the youth, especially those young
people who are suffering from terrorism, war and
radicalism.
To preside over this Eucharistic Celebration is
Rev. Fr. ________________________________________

Let us all stand and join singing for our entrance hymn.
FIRST READING

A reading from the book of Judges

All the citizens of Shechem and all Beth-millo came together

and proceeded to make Abimelech king
by the terebinth at the memorial pillar in Shechem.

When this was reported to him,

Jotham went to the top of Mount Gerizim and, standing there,
cried out to them in a loud voice:
"Hear me, citizens of Shechem, that God may then hear you!
Once the trees went to anoint a king over themselves.
So they said to the olive tree, 'Reign over us.'
But the olive tree answered them, 'Must I give up my rich oil,
whereby men and gods are honored,
and go to wave over the trees?'
Then the trees said to the fig tree, 'Come; you reign over us!'
But the fig tree answered them,
'Must I give up my sweetness and my good fruit,
and go to wave over the trees?'
Then the trees said to the vine, 'Come you, and reign over us.'
But the vine answered them,
'Must I give up my wine that cheers gods and men,
and go to wave over the trees?'
Then all the trees said to the buckthorn, 'Come; you reign over us!'
But the buckthorn replied to the trees,
'If you wish to anoint me king over you in good faith,
come and take refuge in my shadow.
Otherwise, let fire come from the buckthorn
and devour the cedars of Lebanon.'" (Pause for a while.)

The Word of the Lord.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM

Lord, in your strength the king is glad.

O LORD, in your strength the king is glad;

in your victory how greatly he rejoices!
You have granted him his heart's desire;
you refused not the wish of his lips.

Lord, in your strength the king is glad.

For you welcomed him with goodly blessings,

you placed on his head a crown of pure gold.
He asked life of you: you gave him
length of days forever and ever.

Lord, in your strength the king is glad.

Great is his glory in your victory;

majesty and splendor you conferred upon him.
You made him a blessing forever,
you gladdened him with the joy of your face.

Lord, in your strength the king is glad.

Prayers of the Faithful
August 23, 2017

We are constantly challenged to mirror God’s love for all. Making this universal love the inspiration of
our prayer, let us address our petitions to the One who is the Father of us all and say:

All – We beseech You, Lord, hear us!

1. For the Church, God’s family on earth: May she appreciate all cultures and keep herself open to
receive their contribution in order to purify and enrich them with the divine wisdom of the
Gospel. Let us pray!

2. For the Holy Father, our bishops, and the leaders of all other Christian denominations: May they
all be docile to the promptings of the Spirit as He leads all toward an ever-greater unity of faith
and action. Let us pray!

3. For our political leaders and all those who hold positions of authority: May they be faithful to
their commitment to serve all citizens without discrimination and unfair favoritism. Let us pray!

4. For our parish community and our families: May we all treasure dialogue, be ready to listen to
others and do our best to help those in need, following the example of Jesus. Let us pray!

5. For all of us: May the thought of God’s great mercy toward us move us to show mercy to
everyone at all times. Let us pray!

6. Let us pray in silence for our personal intentions. (Pause) Let us pray!
