Office and Laboratory Administration Assistant

Responsibilities and duties:

 assist in the operation of the laboratory to consistently meet the requirements and
expectations of our clients in accordance with our NATA accreditation;
 answer phone;
 attend to client enquiries;
 greet clients that attend our office;
 collect and open samples received by mail or dropped off at the reception;
 profile and prepare samples for sample analysis;
 checking of laboratory certificates and issuing amendments with an approved signatory prior
to sending reports by email;
 invoicing;
 assist in the calibration of test equipment with an approved signatory;
 preparation of samples and chain of custody forms for external laboratory testing;
 order consumable items for laboratory purposes as requested by the laboratory manager;
 follow up with clients regarding incomplete Chain of Custody forms;
 Follow up of outstanding laboratory payments;
 archiving of laboratory emails and client records;
 preparation and issuing of client survey;
 training of new staff to meet the requirements of our NATA accreditation as required by the
position;
 maintain test records in good order condition and storage;
 shredding of hard copies of Chain of Custody forms once scanned and saved on the clients
folder;

Analysts (Signatories)

Responsibilities and duties:

 preparation and analysis of asbestos samples to consistently meet the requirements and
expectations of our clients in accordance with our NATA accreditation. Analysis methods
include Polarised Light Microscopy (PLM), Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) and
Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM);
 entering of laboratory data into laboratory database;
 equipment calibrations;
 equipment maintenance;
 development and review of technical procedures;
 review test results and sign/ release laboratory reports as required;
 training of new staff to meet the requirements of our NATA accreditation;
 attending to client enquiries related to laboratory analysis;
 attending to client complaints as required by the Laboratory Manager;
 undertake corrective action as required by the Laboratory manager;
 maintain test records in good order condition and storage;
 ensuring consumables are received in good order;

Analysts (Approved Identifiers/Counters)

expectations of our clients in accordance with our NATA accreditation. Analysis methods
include Polarised Light Microscopy (PLM), Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) and
Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM);
 ensuring all equipment is maintained and in good working order;
 development and review of technical procedures;
 review test results and sign/ release laboratory reports as required;
 undertake internal quality audits;
 undertake management reviews;
 ensure consumable items for laboratory purposes are of adequate supply;
 managing workflows to meet client expectations;
 ensuring calibration records are up to date;
 ensuring internal and external proficiency programs are current;
 review test results and sign/ release laboratory reports as required;
 reviewing client survey data and implement improvement processes to meet clients
expectations;
 implementation of corrective actions;
 ensuring consumables are received in good order;
 undertake supplier review;
 attend to client complaints;
 ensuring laboratory training is adequate;
