1. PURPOSE

1.1 IDENTIFICATION
Scope of this document is to describe the tests to perform the Harbour Acceptance Trial for
HELICOPTER VISUAL LANDING AIDS (HVLA) FOR OPV FOR NIGERIAN NAVY.
Particularly, the document describes all the checks to be performed in order to guarantee the
correct integration between all the units of the system.
This document shall be printed and filled with all informations requested. This document
functions as the official test report.
The tests on the single components of the system are part of specific dedicated WTPs,
including WTP8144580 and WTP8144395 for GSI, WTP8145221 and WTP8145287 for HRB
MK1.
For every item, a painting certification is stored and available at Calzoni Quality Department.
The weighing of each single item is performed before the FAT and the weight certification is
stored and available at Calzoni Quality Department.
All the WTPs (Workshop Test Procedures and reports) are stored and available at Calzoni
Quality Department.
The Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) on the system have already been performed according to
the document FAT8151733.

3. PRELIMINARY CHECKS

4. SET-UP AND START-UP

OPERATIONS REQUIRED OBTAINED


Connect the units of the system according to the Block Diagram
OK
D8124567 and the Interface Design Document IDD8151731.
The system is powered at 220 Vac – 60 Hz. Check that the
VOLTAGE PRESENCE indicator on Power Control Unit (PCU) is OK
lit.
Connect all units to the protective earthing system. OK
Connect PCU to the ship gyrocompass. OK

4.1 GENERAL CHECKS BEFORE THE FIRST START- UP


For the first start-up, presence of Calzoni personnel is strongly recommended.
OPERATIONS REQUIRED OBTAINED
Before the first power-on, maximum attention should be paid to
the power supply lines, in order to avoid damages to the electronic OK
components installed inside the units.
With all the general switches in OFF position (only the luminous
indicators for voltage presence must be lit), check the input power OK
supply.
The electronic cards shall be pre programmed with their relevant
OK
software before the general power-on of the system.
The electrical diagram of each unit must be used as reference to
OK
check the power supplies voltage.

4.2 FIRST START-UP OF THE SYSTEM


OPERATIONS REQUIRED OBTAINED
Power supply all HVLA system units, setting the PCU selector on
OK
REMOTE ON position and check that the POWERED indicator is lit.
Check that the MCP MAIN LINE and BCP SYSTEM ON indicators
OK
are lit.
The Human Machine Interface (HMI) devices in normal operation
mode are:
 Main Control Panel;
 Bridge Control Panel; -
 Wave Off Remote Switch;

If the Main Control Panel is not available, the light devices of VLA
system can be controlled from the PCU – POWER CONTROL UNIT

5. HMI AND DEVICES FUNCTIONAL TEST FROM MCP

OPERATIONS REQUIRED OBTAINED


Put the Main Switch of MCP in ON position and check that the POWERED
OK
indicator on MCP is lit.
When MCP start-up sequences and the internal tests of the CPU cards inside
the PCU – POWER CONTROL UNIT are completed, the ship status view, of
both flight deck and hangar face, shows to the operator the status of all
lighting devices (see Fig. 1). If any fail is present, the buzzer sounds and
relevant alarm could be found in the alarm page.

On MCP in command Press F1 Key, the MAIN MENU page will be displayed.

Using the function keys (F1, F2, F3, F4) and arrows keys ( ) on the MCP,
or using the TOUCH SCREEN functions, it is possible to select the various
buttons and menus displayed on the screen.
The operator can move through the buttons using the F2/F3 keys (or using -
touch screen function), the selected button is highlighted with a different color
frame.
Check all functionalities following the steps reported below:
Select the DECK EDGE LIGHTS (GREEN) button using F2/F3 keys; switch
ON/OFF the devices using the F4 key and change the light intensity (0% - OK
100%) using the arrow keys followed by a confirmation (F4 Key). Check that
the light intensity changes on the DECK EDGE LIGHTS.
Select the PILOT EYELINE LIGHTS (RED) button using F2/F3 keys; switch
ON/OFF the devices using the F4 key and change the luminous intensity (0% OK
- 100%) using the arrow keys followed by a confirmation (F4 Key). Check that
the luminous intensity changes on the PILOT EYELINE LIGHTS.
Select the EXTENDED LINE UP LIGHTS (WHITE/RED) button using F2/F3
keys; switch ON/OFF the devices using the F4 key and change the luminous
intensity (0% - 100%) using the arrow keys followed by a confirmation (F4 OK
Key). Check that the luminous intensity changes on the EXTENDED LINE UP
LIGHTS.

Select the LINE UP LIGHTS (WHITE) button using F2/F3 keys; switch
ON/OFF the devices using the F4 key and change the luminous intensity (0% OK
- 100%) using the arrow keys followed by a confirmation (F4 Key). Check that
the luminous intensity changes on the LINE UP LIGHTS.
Change the line up mode from STEADY LINE UP to FLASHING LINE UP OK
button using F2/F3 keys and using the F4 key.
Select the DECK SURFACE FLOODLIGHTS (WHITE/BLUE/RED) button
using F2/F3 keys; switch ON/OFF the devices using the F4 key and change
the luminous intensity (0% - 100%) using the arrow keys followed by a OK
confirmation (F4 Key). Check that the luminous intensity changes on the
DECK SURFACE FLOODLIGHTS. WHITE is the default color.
Select the RED DSF button using F2/F3 keys and change DSF color to red OK
using F4 key.
Select the WHITE DSF button using F2/F3 keys and change DSF color to OK
white using F4 key.
Select the BLUE DSF button using F2/F3 keys and change DSF color to blue OK
using F4 key.
Select the OBSTACLE LIGHTS (BLUE) button using F2/F3 keys; switch
ON/OFF the devices using the F4 key and change the luminous intensity (0% OK
- 100%) using the arrow keys followed by a confirmation (F4 Key). Check that
the luminous intensity changes on the OBSTACLE LIGHTS.
Select the OVERHEAD FLOODLIGHTS (WHITE/AMBER/RED) button using
F2/F3 keys; switch ON/OFF the devices using the F4 key and change the
luminous intensity (0% - 100%) using the arrow keys followed by a OK
confirmation (F4 Key). Check that the luminous intensity changes on the
OVERHEAD FLOODLIGHTS. WHITE is the default color.
Select the AMBER OF button using F2/F3 keys and change OF color to
OK
amber using F4 key.
Select the WHITE OF button using F2/F3 keys and change OF color to white OK
using F4 key.
Select the RED OF button using F2/F3 keys and change OF color to red using OK
F4 key.
Select the HANGAR FORWARD STRUCTURE FLOODLIGHTS
(WHITE/AMBER/RED) button using F2/F3 keys; switch ON/OFF the devices
using the F4 key and change the light intensity (0% - 100%) using the arrow OK
keys followed by a confirmation (F4 Key). Check that the light intensity
changes on the HANGAR FORWARD STRUCTURE FLOODLIGHTS.
WHITE is the default color
Select the AMBER HFS button using F2/F3 keys and change HFS color to OK
amber using F4 key.
Select the WHITE HFS button using F2/F3 keys and change HFS color to
OK
white using F4 key.

In this page it is possible to see all the alarms that are active in that moment
and cancel all the alarms that are no more active through the F4 key (ACK).
 Raised alarm will be displayed with RED background. When at least one
alarm is active, the buzzer is beeping;
 No-more-active alarms will be displayed with GREEN background;
 Raised alarms could be acknowledge by means of the ACK command (F4
key);
- Acknowledged active alarms will be displayed with YELLOW
background and buzzer will stop;
- Acknowledging a no-more-active alarm will result in the deleting of the
alarm from the above table and buzzer will stop.
Simulate an error (i.e. remove the Gyro signal) and check that the raised OK
alarm is displayed in red.
Restore the original condition removing the cause of the error and check that
the background color of the alarm reflects the status of the steps described OK
above.
Select the SET DAY MODE button using F2/F3 keys followed by a
confirmation (F4 Key). Check that the DAY-MODE indicator is lit on the MAIN OK
MENU PAGE.
Select the SET NIGHT MODE (default status) button using F2/F3 keys

The WARNING LIGHT (RED) indicator follows the luminous intensity set for
HRB. Simulate a HRB failure (remove gyro signal for example) and check that OK
the WARNING LIGHT switches ON automatically in flashing mode at 60
flash/minute.
During a failure event on HRB press F1 two times to return to the SHIP
STATUS and verify that the corresponding symbol displays the current light
status and flashes. Press F1 to return to the MAIN MENU and select the HRB OK
MENU button using F2/F3 keys. Press F4 key to return to the HRB MENU
page.
Select the HRB HEATER button using F2/F3 keys. Switch ON-OFF the OK
internal HEATER of HRB pressing the F4 key.
The indicators on the right part of the screen of HRB MENU page display the
related failures. OK
These alarms are visible also in the ALARM PAGE from MAIN MENU.
If lit, switch off the Wave Off lights and select the DSD MENU button using
F2/F3 keys. Press F4 key and the DSD MENU page will be displayed. Check

6. HMI AND DEVICES FUNCTIONAL TEST FROM PCU (FOR EMERGENCY USE
ONLY)

This test allows to verify the functions of the HVLA system through the commands of the boards
inside the PCU – POWER CONTROL UNIT. The functioning from the PCU is provide only in
Emergency case, when the MCP is out of service.
The PCU is divided into two main rack, the upper rack is dedicated to GSI and HRB control,
while the lower rack is for VLA lights controls.
GSI and HRB can be controlled by the Maintenance and Control Display of the upper rack,
while each Control Board of the VLA lights rack is independent and has on the front panel all
the pushbutton and led indicator to actuate the controlled units (see the drawing below).

The Bridge Control Panel (BCP) is composed of the following pushbuttons, selectors and
indicators:
 N° 8 lighted pushbuttons and indicators (GREEN, RED, YELLOW to set the DSD status,
ON and OFF of HOMING BEACON LIGHTS, ON and OFF of WAVE OFF LIGHTS);
 N° 1 lighted pushbutton (TEST LAMP) to test the panel indicators;
 N° 2 indicators (SYSTEM ON and ACK), the first one to show if the panel is correctly
power supplied by the Power and Control Unit and the last one to notify the DSD status
variation;
 N° 1 potentiometer (DIMMER) to change the luminous intensity of the panel indicators;
 N° 1 buzzer that beeps every time there is a status change;
ATTENTION: MCP panel should be on for this test
