Dear hiring manager,

I'm looking forward to start off my teaching career with ________. I feel strongly about supporting the
Vietnamese community, and am currently helping teach ESL to friends, volunteering at my church, and
assisting with other primarily Vietnamese-led organizations. I would bring that same passion for
people to the classroom.

During my time taking the CELTA course earlier this year, my fellow classmates and the instructors
commented on how easily I was able to engage the classroom. As such, my interest is to connect with
students and see them improve, not to simply finish a lesson. I have committed myself to being in
Vietnam for two years to work, and also to serve the church and other organizations I am involved in.
That being so, in order to continue serving with them, I would love to work together with you in a part-
time position.

I graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2019, and from 2020-2022 I worked as a
receptionist in a Vietnamese-owned nail salon, speaking both Vietnamese and English. The CELTA
course was taken in Ho Chi Minh as well, and through it I learned how to improve lessons, classroom
observation, and feedback, all to the benefit of the students. My experiences from the U.S. and Vietnam
have given me valuable insight into Vietnamese language and culture, as well as the particular ESL
needs of Vietnamese students. I'm familiar with many of the problems with intonation, pronunciation,
grammar, linking sounds, etc. that many students face in Vietnam.

Thank you for considering me for this position, and I hope that my accompanying resume will give you
a better sense of my previous experience and language skills. I look forward to meeting in person so
that I can learn more about _______'s particular methods of teaching ESL and be able to share more
about my personal experiences with the Vietnamese and English languages. I am always looking to
learn more about teaching ESL with practical experience so that I can better help those around me in
the future.
