Section 1: Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Throughout units 1-7, I feel like I have gained more skills in areas like research, analysis,
planning, production, creativity and editing. I feel like these skills will help when it comes to
Radio. I have done two projects that revolve around audio in this qualification. The first project
was a radio interview that I conducted in units 1 and 2. Doing the radio interview gave me a
greater understanding of how audio editing works as well as presenting and conducting an
audio product. In unit 5, I had to create a podcast. This podcast gave me experience in
analysing audio products as well as creating and conducting one. I also learnt more about audio
editing which will become useful throughout this project. These two projects influenced my
choice to create a radio show for my final major project, this is because I found audio interesting
to work with and would like to conduct an audio product as if I was doing it professionally.
Section 2: Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The overall purpose of this project is to create a radio show based around musicals. During this
project I will conduct a series of research on radio. This research will include analysis of radio
shows which will then lead me onto creating a list of codes and conventions. Following this, I will
then look at already existing information which I will compile into a list. After this, I will launch a
google form to send to the target audience which will tell me what type of radio show they would
like to see, as well as helping me find the demographic. After researching, I will create a risk
assessment and production schedule. These will help me make sure that the project runs
smoothly and that risk’s will be kept to a minimum. After creating these, I would move onto
creating a running order and creating scripts that will aid me during the actual show. Throughout
this project, I will be using my skills in editing to edit the pre-recorded sections of the show.
Throughout the project, I will be using audio production and editing technology, this is essential
when creating the radio show. This project includes many different tasks that need to be
completed within 7 weeks, this will test my time management skills and hopefully improve them
as well.

Section 3: Evaluation (approx. 50 words)

Everyday while I am working on this project I will be writing a small reflection of what I have
done on that day, this will be an indication of my progress throughout the unit. In addition to this,
I will be creating experiments throughout this project to develop on ideas, this will also include
past versions of edited content to show how my ideas develop. At the end of this unit, I will
create an overall evaluation which will cover all aspects of the project. While editing content for
sections of the radio show, I will either screenshot/screen record the process, this again will
show the development of ideas.
