REVIEWER – Physical Science 3rd quarter

Big Bang Theory – Scientists believe that the expansion and the stretching of the universe happened
approximately 13.7 billion years ago.

Star formation Theory - It states that stars are formed when a dense region of molecular cloud collapse.

Proton-proton chain reaction - This is one of the stages of star formation wherein the formation of Helium from
the fusion of Hydrogen atoms occurred.

Neutrons and Protons- Atomic nucleus is central part of an atom. It consists of two subatomic particles.

Dmitri Mendeleev - He is the father of modern periodic table of elements.

Tri-alpha Process This is one of the stages of star formation wherein fusion reaction occurs naturally in the cores of
some stars such as the sun, producing carbon from helium.

Magnesium - In nucleosynthesis, carbon reacting with another carbon will result to gamma rays of this element.

6 - valence electrons are present in Sulfur

Metals - Copper belongs to what group of elements.

Covalent Bonding It is a form of chemical bonding between two non-metallic atoms.

Covalent Bonding- type of chemical bonding will occur between Sulfur and Oxygen

Electronegativity - It measures the relative tendency of an atom to attract electrons to itself when chemically
combined with another atom.

Covalent bond - type of bond exists between oxygen (O2) molecules.

Nucleic acids - The biological molecules are necessary for a living system in order to perpetuate continuously from
generation to generation.

Proteins - biomolecules is important in muscle building.

Carbohydrates contain many elements which are carbohydrate, hydrogen and oxygen.

Glucose monosaccharide is most abundant in nature.

Lactose A type of disaccharide which is mainly found in milk and other milk products.

Amino Acid building block of proteins.

Carbohydrates

Collagen - Proteins found in connective tissues like tendons and ligament.

DNA is a hereditary molecule containing nitrogenous pair bases - Adenine-Thymine and Cytosine-Guanine.

Amino acids Proteins are polypeptide that contains repeating units.

Peptide bond - Amino acids in proteins are joined together.

Enzymes are substances that catalyze a reaction. Glycopase, Lipase, Sucrase.

It increases the number of effective collisions among reactants, thus increasing the reaction rate- effect of
temperature rise on reaction rate.

Factors affect the reaction rate:

 The surface area of the Zinc.
 The concentration of reactants.
 The amount of hydrochloric acid

Catalyst - Increases the rate of reaction.

Bacteria do not grow well in dark places - many types of foods stored in refrigerators.
