Abstract

Precision agriculture by providing targeted and data driven agricultural

practices, has a crucial role to play in optimising crop productivity and reducing
resource waste. The content of nutrients in soil is one of the key factors that
influence crop growth. It is essential to assess the levels of soil nutrients accurately
and consistently, so as to make appropriate decisions concerning fertilisation and
ensure optimum crop health. Using the Internet of Things technologies to monitor
and analyse soil nutrient levels in real time, enabling farmers to make precise and
effective nutrient management decisions, the proposed Soil Nutrient Identification
System for Precision Agriculture Leveraging the Internet of Things IoT technologies
to monitor and analyse soil nutrient levels in real time, enabling farmers to make
precise and effective nutrient management decisions.

This system comprises a network of sensors, which are placed in agricultural

fields collecting data on soil parameters such as pH, moisture levels and nutrients
using computer modelling techniques the information gathered is transmitted to the
central server through an internet connection where it is processed and analysed. To
allow for accurate estimating and identification of soil nutrients deficiency or
imbalance, those algorithms will be trained to link the sensor data with a particular
level of nutritional content. In addition, an intuitive user friendly interface is offered
via a web application as part of the system. In real time farmers are able to visualize
data on soil nutrients and recommend crop combinations according to each fertilizer,
as well as water levels for individual crops.

A number of benefits, including better use of resources, reduced fertiliser

costs and an increase in overall farm productivity, can be obtained through the
implementation of this proposal. The system can contribute to the sustainable
practice of farming and environmental protection, making it possible for farmers to
plan their own management of phosphorus levels in soil. Finally, a comprehensive
approach for efficient and precise monitoring of soil nutrients across agricultural
production is offered through the Soil Nutrient Identification System on Precision
Farming via Internet of Things.
