HISTORY and BIOGRAPHY

This barangay of 223.6 hectares was once sparsely populated. It was a grassy land

with forest-covered mountains and was where people from other areas passed

through whenever they went to town using carabao and horses as means of

transformation. When someone asks them where they pass by in going to the

market, they answered, “SA TAGAYTAY” as time passed, the place came to be

known as Tagaytay in the year 1931, which means an inclined slope or path from the

foot of the mountain going to the plain.

Tagaytay celebrates its annual Fiesta every third Saturday of august in honor of its

Patron Saint, Señor San Roque.

Tagaytay is divided into seven Sitios/Purok with a total population of 1,533. A place

of uniquely beautiful composition of nature, people, and cultural background.
