DuPont has made some improvements and compensation.

DuPont has taken a number of steps,

although these measures have not explicitly addressed the serious public pollution scandal. In 1981,
DuPont further learned that PFOA could spread from pregnant women to children, causing birth defects.
Therefore, remove women from the PFOA category until the level of exposure is below the potentially
harmful level [12]. In 2017, DuPont convened a panel of scientists to determine if there were any PFOA-
related illnesses. The team concluded that this could be linked to six conditions: kidney and testicular
cancer, ulcerative colitis, thyroid disease, high blood pressure during pregnancy and high cholesterol.
DuPont Inc. and Chemours Inc. they paid $ 671 million to pay thousands of lawsuits for the spillage of a
toxic chemical used to make Teflon.

Genx and Chemours

When PFOA came out of the market, DuPont developed a substitute for working with the ammonium
salt of fluorinated ether acid. The company has named its new product GenX.

Before DuPont began producing GenX on a commercial scale, the company struck a legal agreement
with the EPA under the federal Toxic Substances Control Act. That January 2009 permit order allowed
DuPont to produce GenX's parent acid - an unbalanced molecule called hexafluoropropylene oxide
dimer acid fluoride (HFPO-DA fluoride) —and GenX itself.

GenX was launched in 2009. Its founder, DuPont, called it the “continuous” perfumeorooctanoic acid
(PFOA) that persists, accumulates and is toxic. While DuPont left its fluorochemical business to build
Chemours in 2015, the new company continued to make and operate GenX at a factory outside
Fayetteville, North Carolina. Growing research suggests that HFPO-DA, like a well-studied PFOA, is linked
to harmful effects on the liver and reproductive problems.

A 72-page order, made public by the investigative news website Intercept in 2016, sets out detailed
requirements for the protection of employees in the manufacture and use of chemicals. One sentence
describes the control of water extraction and emissions of two fluorochemicals: “The company will
recover and hold (dispose of) or recycle [two things] with 99% efficiency in all streams of air pollution
and air pollution.

DuPont, who called GenX "PFOA's" continuous replacement "in its 2010 marketing brochure, described
GenX as" a good poison "and said it was quickly removed from the body of laboratory animals. The GenX
was developed using "special environmental management technology that reduces emissions and
exposure," continues the pamphlet.

The pamphlet also notes that GenX would not break easily if not released into the environment. "The
aim of DuPont GenX's exposure control strategy is to introduce a new processing tool within the
production facility and reduce staff availability," he said. The strategy contains a variety of
environmental engineering control methods, including filters and filters, that can restore or reuse GenX,
the brochure said.

While DuPont fled to Chemours, the burden of living up to the EPA order was transferred to a new
company.

Code of Conduct
Edgar Woolard started his tenure as CEO of DuPont by calling for a new “Corporate Environmentalism”.
DuPont tried to change its core values dramatically since then to become more environmentally
sustainable company, but companies’ history says otherwise.
From 1990 to 2004, the company reduced toxicity by 90 percent, greenhouse gas production by 70
percent, and hazardous waste production by 40 percent. It also reduced energy consumption by more
than 5 percent despite a 40 percent increase in production output. Even more amazing,

development saved $ 3 billion. But those successes were just the beginning. From 2004 to 2013, DuPont
reduced air carcinogens by another 65 percent and greenhouse gases by another 25 percent. In addition
to further reducing energy efficiency in its operations, the company has also used water efficiently.

Companies 2020 Code of Conduct highlights company’s commitment towards environment

sustainability and responsibility towards people.

“At DuPont, we want to help create a better world for people everywhere. Our core value of Protect the
Planet is a principal example of the company’s commitment. We work to protect the environment and to
be a good steward of our operations, products, and services. We compete lawfully and we support
human rights standards. In the end, our efforts should be viewed based on the results that we achieve
and the lives that we positively affect. “

Future Aspects

Companies 2020 Code of Conduct had great emphasis on

1) Environment Protection and Sustainability,

2) Human Rights
3) Safety and Health
4) Respect for People
5) Making Better decisions
6) Supporting Information, among others

But, even after decades of legal battle and settling 3440 lawsuits, the company hasn’t accepted publicly
its guilt.
