Tet holiday or Vietnamese Lunar New Year is the most important holiday in my

country. People celebrate Tet holiday according to two period. Period one is from
december 23rd to 30th, people clean and decorate their house to celebrate New
Year. On December 23rd of lunar calendar, it is called God of Kitchen Festival, it is
considered one of the most essential festivals in Vietnamese religious beliefs.
People often celebrate the farewell ceremony for the Kitchen God, he fly to the
heaven to report everything happening in the house of the owner. On 30th morning,
people cook many dishes to worship ancestors, they believe that ancestors return the
home and visit family during Tet holiday. The night on the december 30th of Lunar
Calendar, the Kitchen God returns the house to continue his job of looking after the
stove in the kitchen. On night of 30th, people gather together to wait the moment of
New Year’ s Eve, many provinces have big music show with songs about Tet,
people will gather to watch the fireworks in the many cities. Period two is from
january 1st to the 3rd of lunar calendar. On the first and the second, people wear new
clothes and visit relatives and friends. The children receive lucky money. Many
people usually go to pagoda to pray for good things in new year. On the third ,
people celebrate the farewell ceremony to workship the ancestors with many dishes.
Tet holiday is important because people have the opportunity for relax after
working year. It is an occasion to everyone get together in warm atmosphere, they
remember the ancestors and give each other best wishes for the new year
