INTRODUCING SENTENCES
SENTENCE is a unit of language in the form
of a word or series of words that.

can stand alone and express a complete
meaning. Sentence is the smallest unit of

DECLARATIVE SENTENCES

It is used to make a statement which tells us


something, and normally ends with a full stop.
In order to form a full sentence or thought,
be sure to put a period,
otherwise it will not be a declarative expression
FORMULA :
(+) S +V+O
(-) S + DO/DOES + NOT + V1 + O

EXAMPLE :
affirmative : (+) she comes from mamuju
negative : (-) she doesn’t come from mamuju
INTEROGATIVE SENTENCES

Ask a question and always end with


a question mark (?)
Example of introgative ;
do, does, did, to be, have, had & wh question.

Example :

•Do you here me ?


•Have you eaten?
•What are you doing ?
•Are you okay ?

EXCLAMATORY SENTENCES

Exclamatory sentences is Expresses


Strong/emotion, and always ends with an
exclamation mark (!).

Example :

• How amazing the movie watch !


• What a wonderful day !
• I cannot believe it !
IMPERATIVE SENTENCES

Gives a command , they all us to do something,


they can end with exclamation mark (!)
or a full stop. Unlike declarative sentences (statements)
or interrogative sentences (questions),
imperatives don't mention the subject,
but use the infinitive form instead.
Imperatives are usually used for several purposes;
IMPERATIVE SENTENCES

• showing direction
Example : on the fourth block, turn right.
• giving orders.
Example : move that table to this corner!
• Warn
Example : don’t make me jealous !
• Invite
Example : come in!/ get in!/ sit down
-try this chocolate !
• Announce
Example : do not sit beside the dogs!
