Title: Detail Engineering Survey, Design cost and Estimate of Rural Road
Introduction:
Rural roads are the lifeline of the rural population . They link the rural
areas to urban centers and the rest of the country, to district
headquartes and centers. They are very important for connecting
people . This sector is one of the imporant sectors and it is in the
priority of the government. A wide way of leading from one place to
another especially one with a specially prepared surface which vehicles
can use. A good road network helps in stabilizing and developing every
aspect of society. Road is the main source of surface transport
providing bulk movements of commodities and passengers. In
comparision with our two neighbours ,the investment we have made in
building rural roads in Nepal is comparatively very low. With support
from the government ,communities are building the roads in rural
areas. These roads are generating environmental and social concerns.
Some of the rural roads constructed by communities through local
bodies , without engineers inputs, are causing a lot of problems. The
cost of improvement of such roads will be a lot of money in the future.
There is a high risk. We are now improving the standards of the rural
roads through thee support of development partners and government .
This road will link the centre of district headquarters to village centres.
The districts will be connected to the national road network . What we
are doing is to connect the village centre to the district centre, which is
called the core road network. Our priority is now to improve the
standard the core network and make them all weather roads . we are
building crossings in the rivers , with bridges, culverts ,and causeways.
We are intervening in the road work to make them all weather.
The rural roads plays an important role in the overall development of
these areas . It provides accessibility and mobility for the rural dwellers,
providing economic ,physical, social and political links and facilitating
the exchange of the products of the urban areas and the raw materials
of the rural areas. Rural roads are a road network that is not in an
urban setting. There are the roads with a low traffic volume , which
connect different communities ,provide market access to farms and
farmland and have lower design speed . Pural roads are generally
owned by local authorities.
