1. Description of work

Specific Duties to include:

 Develop and implement the training programme for all players in the club.
 Supervise all training sessions.
 Team selection.
 Attendance at all fixtures.

2. Dates and hours of work


This employment began on _____OCTOBER 2ND 2019

The nature of this contract underpins the fulfilment of a legitimate objective of UUSU
to provide temporary specialist coaching expertise on an as needed basis. There are no
minimum hours of work. You will only be paid for the hours you work as detailed in
coach/manager policy.

Where your daily work time is more than six hours you are entitled to a rest break of 30
minutes. All rest breaks are unpaid.

3. Probation
The position is subject to a 6-month probationary period during which time no notice is
required by either party to terminate the contract. Completion of probation shall be
dependant on the completion of casual induction.

4. Place of work
Ulster University Students’ Union at Jordanstown Campus. (Delete as necessary)

5. Pay
Hourly rate __£15
6. Absences and illness
You must notify your immediate supervisor on every day of absence from work or as
soon after it as is practicable and give the reason for and expected duration of the
absence.

Payment will not be made if you are unable to work due to illness. Statutory Sick Pay
may apply if their conditions are met.

7. Pension
You are entitled to become a member of NEST subject to satisfying certain eligibility
criteria and subject to the rules of such Scheme as amended from time to time. Further
information will be sent to you on commencement of your employment.

8. Rules/Dismissals/General
A copy of the Employer’s Disciplinary Rules is available on request.

10. Grievance Procedure


A copy of the Employer’s Grievance Rules is available on request.

11. Holidays
There is entitlement to holiday pay. This will be paid at the end of each term when your
employment ends and is in accordance with the Working Time Regulations. Pro rata
for part-time staff.

12. Notice of termination


Either party, giving one week’s notice, may terminate this Agreement. In the case of
dismissal following disciplinary procedures, you will forfeit your right to notice.

In the case of gross misconduct, you will be dismissed summarily without notice and
without payment in lieu of notice.

On termination of employment, all items of Ulster University Students’ Union


property, which have been allocated to you, must be returned.

13. Confidential Information


In the course of, or for the purposes of this agreement, the Coach will acquire or have
access to and be entrusted with information which is confidential to the Club. It is the
Coach duty to observe such confidentiality. The restriction shall continue to apply after
the termination of this agreement.

14. Health and Safety


While the Club will, as far as practicable, ensure a safe and healthy environment, the
responsibility for personal health, safety and welfare while undertaking the duties of
this agreement rests with the Coach. The Coach should ensure that the duties are
conducted taking due care of health, safety and welfare without putting at risk the
health, safety and welfare of himself, his colleagues, members of the Club and
members of the public, in accordance with NGB guidelines.

15. Insurance
For the duration of the agreement UUSU shall take out and maintain public liability
insurance and employer’s liability insurance on behalf of UUSU Sport. UUSU shall
provide a current certificate of insurance on request from the Club.

16. Accident Report


The Coach shall report any accidents/near miss incidents which occurred on any part of
the Ulster University campus or externally to UUSU Sport staff and the Sports Services
supervisor as soon as the accident become apparent and in any event within 24 hours
from when such an accident occurs. The individual will be required to complete an
accident report form with Sports Services if incident occurs on campus and UUSU
Sport if incident occurs off campus.

17. Policies & Rules


The policies and rules of UUSU Sport are as set out in the UUSU Sports Constitution
and Handbook. In addition, it should be noted that UUSU Sport is part of UUSU and
is therefore governed by the policies and rules of the Students’ Union.

The Safeguarding Policy at UUSU reinforces the importance placed by the University
on the protection of children and young people. All coaches are required to read and
implement this policy while undertaking their duties. Furthermore, it is the policy of
UUSU Sport that all coaching appointments are subject to Access NI checks where
applicable. Consequently, the Coach will be required to comply with UUSU
Safeguarding Policy. Failure to do so will result in automatic disqualification.

The Coach is required to read and sign the UUSU Sport Code of Conduct for
Coaches/Managers. Failure to do so will result in automatic disqualification.
