PCA-Choosing an Organization Worksheet

Worksheet Objectives:
1. Identify an organization and situation you want to study over the remainder of the course.
2. Describe the organization and the situation

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Name and describe your organization.

The organization I am choosing for my case study is Key Health Medical Solutions and
their acquistion of competing company, Movedocs. Key Health was a medical lien
company that helped patients with personal injury legal cases get injury related
healthcare. Movedocs is a financial technology-based company that helps attorneys and
providers communicate with each other regarding the care their clients need using their
web-based platform.

2) Describe your role in the organization (it can be an internal or external role).

I started out working for Key Health as a medical records coordinator and was promoted
to case manager. After a short time in that role, I was promoted again to supervisor of the
medical records department.

3) Describe the situation, including information you think the will help the reader
understand the most important elements of the situation. (This will require
selectivity: part of the art of case writing is separating the essential facts from the
mass of information that might be included).

The situation I am highlighting for my case study is the acquisition/merger between two
competing companies during a global pandemic (Covid). Key Health employees were
working remotely during this time, and we experienced a major cultural shift as per the
requirements of the merger, we needed to assimilate to the Movedocs way of functioning.
We experienced lay-offs, duplication of duties, and miscommunication between
departments that were based in different states – California, Nevada, and Illinois.
