EXPEDITION HIGHLIGHTS:
● Set out on exhilarating jeep safaris and jungle walks in the lush jungles of Bardia to encounter diverse wildlife.
Bardia is home to prime wildlife species including Greater One-Horned Rhinos, Bengal Tigers, Asian wild
Elephants, Smooth Coated Otters, hordes of Chittal (spotted) deers, Gangetic river dolphins, and over 400
species of birds. Camp under the stars and witness rustic Tharu culture on an unparalleled and fun-filled voyage
in Bardia. A lavish village feast with the Indigenous Tharu people awaits only for you.
● Embark on a trek to the pristine and remote mountain trails in the north-western region that shelters Nepal’s
largest freshwater lake- Rara Lake. You will experience breathtaking landscapes and culture on this trek, which
ends at the spell-bounding beauty- Rara Lake. You will also hike up to Murma top (3,630 m) for a full-blown view
of the lake and a gorgeous 360 degrees view as far as the Tibetan plateau and come across the rustic Murma
village, with an old-world charm where time seems to have stopped.
● Immerse yourself in the vibrant city of Kathmandu, a place for architecture and history buffs.

An Oxford graduate who grew up in Nepal in a tight-knit community, very much in tune with the natural world,
Manoj is a conservationist who combines best of both the worlds and brings forth a pragmatic approach to the
projects he undertakes. He has worked as the executive director of The Jane Goodall Institute Nepal for 20 years to
address the most pressing issues in natural resource management, animal welfare and human-wildlife conflict,
championing local communities’ rights and agency over ancestral lands.

He is an honorary member of the International Consortium of Indigenous and Local Community Conserved Areas
(ICCAs), a specialist at Human Behavior Change for Life, an international group of experts on Human Behavior
Change. Manoj has been recognized with many awards and mentions including Jane Goodall’s Global Youth
Leadership Award 2008, the Future For Nature Award 2015, the Shining World Hero Award 2019, and the member
of Explorers Club 50 (class of 2023).
DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1 | Touch down Kathmandu.

Overnight: Kathmandu

Welcome to Nepal! On the first day, our representatives will receive

you at the airport and take you to the hotel. Freshen up, get some
rest and familiarize yourself with the air of Nepal.
In the evening, you will meet our experience leader and we will
brief you on the plans for the upcoming days over a welcome
dinner.

Day 2 | Explore Kathmandu in the morning. Fly to

Nepalgunj (55 mins)
Overnight: Nepalgunj

Today, a Sightseeing Trip in this vibrant city awaits. We will take you
on a cultural tour to some of the unique Heritages listed in UNESCO
World Heritage Temples like The Monkey Temple and Basantapur
Durbar Square by a senior anthropologist.

Later, we take an afternoon flight to Nepalgunj, located in the far western plains of Nepal. If the weather gods are kind, you’ll
be able to see the Himalayan ranges including some of the world’s highest peaks along with the plethora of hills and rivers
flowing through plain lands.

Day 3 | Fly to Talcha (45mins) and hike to Rara (3 hrs)

Overnight: Basic Mountain Lodge, Rara

We will leave the summer behind and fly to Talcha Airport

in the lap of the mountains today.
After a hike of 3 hours (or a quick drive and horse ride if
you opt for it) through the gorgeous alpine terrain, we’ll
reach the largest freshwater lake ‘Rara’ in Mugu District.

Day 4 | Hike to Murma Village and Murma

Top (3,630m)
Overnight: Basic Mountain Lodge, Rara

We will take a hike to Murma Top to get the

uninterrupted view of the lake and gorgeous 360 degrees
view as far as the Tibetan plateau. If you want to take it
slow and easy, you can simply hike up to the archaic
village of Murma. You’ll be awed by the simplicity of
people, their culture, and their lifestyle.
Day 05: Fly from Talcha to Nepalgunj, drive to Burhan Wilderness Camps
Overnight: Burhan Wilderness Camps, Bardia

We take a short raft ride on the Rara lake and hike for the
next two hours on gorgeous trails through the woods to
reach Talcha airport. We will take an early morning flight
to Nepalgunj.

From the airport, we drive towards Bardia. Our base for

the next few days will be Burhan Wilderness Camps, an
exclusive wilderness retreat located on a secluded jungle
island between two rivers. We meet our local guides and
enjoy a relaxing sundowner by the Karnali river at the
camp.

Day 06 | Into the Jungle | Tharu Village Feast

Overnight: Burhan Wilderness Camps, Bardia

Today we set off early on a full-day exciting game drive into the
pristine jungles of Bardia National Park to spot the king of the
jungle, one-horned rhinos, wild elephants, and many more
exotic wildlife and interesting bird species. Lunch will be served
in the jungle.

We will drive to the local village of the Indigenous Tharus for a

village feast in the evening. Indulge in festivities, local folklores,
colorful dances, cooking, and alcohol-making with an entire
village including the village leaders. Definitely a highlight of your
trip!

Day 07 | The Uncharted Bardia and Fly back to Kathmandu

Overnight: Kathmandu

Today, we explore the vicinity of Burhan Camps in the

morning to look for tigers (and other wildlife) around.
We will chill in the morning and have breakfast from
our peacock spot which always seems to have some
activity going on.

We will head to explore stories and real perceptions of

people in the surrounding community forests and Dalla
area, on the other side of the National Park. We will
also meet victims of Human-tiger conflicts and visit our
project site for the Nature Center in Bardia before flying
out to Kathmandu.
Day 08 |Leisure Day in Kathmandu
Overnight: Kathmandu
Today, we have a leisure day. If you wish, we can take you sightseeing and show
you around the markets for souvenirs and anything you would like to buy back
home. You have the option to choose adventures like Everest Helicopter Tour
with breakfast at the World’s highest hotel (3-5 hours).

The long trip will be celebrated with a farewell dinner.

Terms and Conditions

Payment: 50% of payment is required to secure your reservation. The final payment is due four weeks prior to the first day of
your trip. Payment can be made by check (made payable to the company); or via wire transfer.

Refunds: If you are unable to join us, for whatever reason, please notify us one month prior to the first day of your trip and
we will return your payment in full. If you notify us within one month of your start date we are unable to offer a refund.

Itinerary Changes/Cancellation: The itinerary is subject to seasonal changes and accommodates group preferences. Every
effort will be made to undertake the trip as planned, however, should unforeseen events and conditions require our itinerary
to be altered or the trip to be canceled, we reserve the right to do so for the safety and best interest of the group. If not
enough people sign up for the trip and we deem it to be economically unfeasible, we reserve the right to cancel. In such
cases, we will provide you with a full refund of any payment.

Photography: We reserve the right to take photographs or videos during the trip and to use photographs, videos, or
recordings for promotional use. If you would prefer otherwise, please notify us in writing prior to the departure of the trip.

Acknowledgment of Risk: You acknowledge that your participation in the expedition may involve risk and potential exposure
to injury. You confirm that you are physically and mentally capable of participating in the trip and that you assume
responsibility for any injury, loss, or damage suffered by you or caused by you.

Immunizations: Please check the latest advice on what immunizations are recommended for Nepal (including Far Western
Nepal) and ensure you are up‐to‐date.

WHO IS THIS FOR?
Anyone with a passion for wildlife and the spirit of adventure is welcome to join. There are no age limits. All we ask is that
you have a reasonable level of physical fitness, as most days will include up to seven hours of physical activity. We will be
staying in a mix of basic as well as luxury accommodation including glamping tents in the Wilderness Camps.
WHO WILL GUIDE IT?
Each trip is led by expert trip leaders and conservationists from our team, supported by excellent local guides. The leader
oversees your trip from the moment you arrive in Nepal until you depart, while our knowledgeable local guides ensure your
safety in the village and give you an in-depth understanding of local culture and wildlife.

WHAT WILL WE EAT?

We will serve a wide variety of meals during the trip depending on the places we go. If you have a specific food preference,
dietary restriction, or allergy, kindly let us know in advance so we can cater accordingly. All food will be prepared by qualified
staff with utmost attention to hygiene, and bottled mineral water will be supplied for drinking.

IS IT SAFE?
Your safety is our primary concern. All our experts and guides are trained in first aid and our river guides are qualified in
advanced river rescue techniques. We will provide all necessary safety equipment including life jackets. While camping, there
is always a guide on the overnight watch for wild animals. All our equipment is up-to-date and carefully maintained.

WHO WILL BE IN THE GROUP?

Each trip will have a maximum group size of 20 and a minimum group size of 6. If you would like to book a group trip, please
contact us well in advance of your preferred dates.

Do I NEED INSURANCE?
Since our destination is remote and wild, we require that you have medical evacuation insurance for your safety. We also
recommend you cover yourself for accident/sickness, loss of baggage, and trip cancellation.
