Lesson3 Gasexchange
Lesson3 Gasexchange
LEARNING GOALS
Identify the importance of gas
exchange
Describe how some animals
exchange gases
Be aware of how the government
protects the citizens by forming
the sin tax bill.
SHOW ME THE WAY!!!
Using metacards you are going to
arrange the respiratory pathway
of the human body.
Bronchi Pharynx
Nostrils Blood
Alveoli Larynx
Bronchioles Trachea
Nostrils Blood
Pharynx Alveoli
Larynx Bronchioles
Trachea Bronchus
CAUSE AND EFFECT
GAS EXCHANGE
Respiration or the interchange of O2 and CO2
3 phases which use digested food to produce
work
Breathing exposes large, moist internal
surface to air
O2 diffuses from lungs into blood vessels
and CO2 in reverse
Exhalation removes CO2 from body
GAS EXCHANGE
Transport of gases by circulatory system
O2 attaches to hemoglobin in RBC’s
an external
tracheal aperture
of a terrestrial
arthropod that in
an insect is
usually one of a
series of small
apertures located
along each side of
the thorax and
abdomen
TRACHEAL SYSTEMS
Branching internal
tube system in insects
Surface at tips
Direct exchange with
body cells
No circulatory system
Open to external
environment via
narrow tubes
Helps retain moisture
Most terrestrial
animals
TRACHEAL SYSTEMS
Spiracles
Tracheae open
to external
environment
Smaller
branches are
tracheoles that
participate
directly in gas
exchange
O2 directly to
body cells
PICTURE ANALYSIS
LUNGS
Internal sacs with
moist epithelium
Inner surfaces branch
extensively to increase
SA
Circulatory system
carries gases between
lungs and body cells
Most terrestrial
vertebrates

APPLICATION
