What is?
Intrinsic motivation is behavior driven by an internal
or intrinsic desire. In other words, it is the motivation
to perform a behavior that stems from within the
person and not from the outside. This means that the
motivation comes solely from oneself and not from
external forces such as incentives, rewards or praise.

TYPES
Intrinsic motivation can manifest itself in different forms:

Curiosity: Motivation to learn, explore and discover new


things.

Autonomy: Motivation to have control and freedom in


...decision making and...actions. ...

Competence: Motivation to develop skills, surpass oneself
and achieve challenging goals.

Meaning: Motivation to find purpose or meaning in what we


do, relating our actions to our values and the well-being of
others.

Pleasure and enjoyment: Motivation to experience
satisfaction, pleasure and fun in our activities.
Intrinsic motivation comes
directly from the pleasure
derived from an autonomously
chosen task, which is recognized
as relevant and gives us

purpose. When we are
intrinsically motivated we are IMPORTANCE
more creative, we are more
easily involved in the task and
adaptive learning is facilitated.
It is voluntary and does not require
forced stimulation.
No retribution is sought.
Seeks autonomy, personal goals and
enthusiasm.

CHARACTERISTICS Its exponents are more supportive and


cooperative people.
It does not encourage competition or the
drive for results.
It responds to factors such as pleasure,
pride or personal fulfillment.
Accelerates learning and
interest in a subject.

Beneficial in the long term.

this type of motivation the results
will not be given in the short term.
Since, to promote it, the efforts that 06
