According to Uno (2007), the sense of
motivation is internal and external in
one who is indicated by one's desires
and interests, urges and needs, hopes
and ideals, appreciation, and respect.

4
Definition Of Intrinsic Motivation
Intrinsic motivation is defined as the doing of an
activity for its inherent satisfaction rather than for some
separable consequence. When intrinsically motivated, a
person is moved to act for the fun or challenge entailed
rather than because of external products, pressures, or
rewards.

5
EXAMPLE FOR INTRINSIC
MOTIVATION
 Playing video games to complete mission

 Participating in the race because they want to enjoy

some

 Learning new things because you see them as

interesting

6
Type of intrinsic motivation
1. Intrinsic motivation of knowledge
it means someone who wants to do the activity
to explore new ideas to gain a knowledge.

2. Intrinsic motivation of Accomplishhmen

It means here to refer to a thrill that deals with trying
to master a task or achieve a goal of.

3. Intrinsic motivation of Stimulation

It means here to relate to motivations based on thrill
stimulated by performing tasks, such as aesthetic
appreciation or pleasure and excitement

7
Extrinsic
motivation

8
Definition of extrinsic motivation
Extrinsic motivation is a construct that pertains whenever an activity is
done in order to attain some separable outcome. Extrinsic motivation
thus contrasts with intrinsic motivation, which refers to doing an activity
simply for the enjoyment of the activity itself, rather than its
instrumental value. However, unlike some perspectives that view
extrinsically motivated behavior as invantly nonautonomous, SDT
proposes that extrinsic motivation can vary greatly in the degree to
which it is autonomous

9
Example for extrinsic motivation

 Participating in the race to bring home prize

 Cleaning the room so as not to be scolded by the parents

 Volunteer to meet a requirement

10
Type of extrinsic motivation
1. Extrinsic motivation of external regulation
External regulation is the only kind of motivation
recognized by operant theorist.

2. Extrinsic motivation of introjected regulation

Introjection describes a type of internal regulation that is still quite controlling because people
perform such actions with the feeling of pressure in order to avoid guilt or anxiety or to attain
ego-enhancements or pride. Put differently, introjection represents regulation by contingent self-
esteem.

3. Extrinsic motivation of identified regulation

Integration occurs when identified regulations have been fully assimilated to the self. This
occurs through self-examination and bringing new regulations into congruence with one’s other
values and needs. The more one internalizes the reasons for an action and assimilates them to
the self, the more one’s extrinsically motivated actions become self determined

11
conclusion
Intrinsic motivation is the performance of an action done out of interest
or pleasure, while an extrinsic motivation arises from an external or
social basis for action. Extrinsic motivators like money or other
rewards can produce extrinsic motivation because of the fact that they
generate a desire for the consequences of activities, they produce no
desire to engage in activities for their own interests. When people
engage in activities for extrinsic rewards, their motivation is embedded
in the environment rather than within themselves. Rather, intrinsic
motivation exists in the individual and can be harnessed and
enhanced by the environment that supports individual autonomy and
competence.
