MOTIVATION
AUGUST 29, 2022
MONTON, ARAEZZA ELLA G.

1. Give two (2) definitions of motivation

 The word Motivation derives from the Latin word “Movere”. The Latin word
“Movere” means “To move”, “To drive” or “To drive forward”.
 Motivation can be defined as stimulating, inspiring and inducing the
employees to perform to their best capacity. It is the desire to take action to
accomplish a goal. It’s the crucial element in setting and attaining our
objectives.

2. Two (2) main types of motivation.

 Intrinsic motivation
 Extrinsic motivation

3. Define/describe extrinsic motivation.

 This kind of motivation comes from rewards or consequences that are not
personally related to the individual. It occurs when we are driven to act in a
certain way because we want to receive a reward or keep away from
punishment.

4. Examples of sources of extrinsic motivation

 Rewards or incentives like money or praise.
 Promotion

5. Define/describe intrinsic motivation.

 This kind of motivation stems from your own inner desire to delight in the
activity or the outcome. It has a reputation for bringing happiness and
fulfillment on its own. Instead of doing something because you want to
receive an award from someone else, you are doing it for its own reason. The
act alone is reward itself.
6. Examples of sources of intrinsic motivation.
 Happiness and enjoyment.
 Self-improvement
 Personal satisfaction

7. What are your extrinsic and intrinsic motivations? Give two of each type.
 Extrinsic motivations
 Doing my assignments to earn a good grade.
 Doing household chores to avoid being scolded by my mother.
 Intrinsic motivations
 Studying lessons from my subjects to improve my learning.
 Organizing my things because I feel satisfied when I look at my room
being neat and tidy.
