KINDS OF LINES
There are three main kinds of lines. These are straight, curved, and zigzag. All of these are used
in artworks, but each means something when used in a picture. These lines represent emotions
or moods. A straight vertical line characterizes a dignified, formal, and stable persona. A
horizontally positioned line represents peace, calmness, quietness, and rest. A diagonally
positioned line models movement and activity. A curved line imitates activity but in a more fluid
and graceful manner, much like a dancer. A zigzag line depicts confusion, tension, even
excitement. These lines may be represented as either static or dynamic lines. A static line depicts
an object at rest, while a dynamic line represents motion.
Direction: In an Oslo paper, draw a figure or object with the line stated.
