A Line is an extension of a point in any direction. They give the eyes a clear
direction on where to look at. There are two types of line, a straight line and
curve line.

1. Straight Line – It is essentially a line without curves.

Kinds of Straight Line

a. Vertical Line- a line shows
height and movement. It goes
up and down.

b. Horizontal Line – a line

suggests a feeling of rest and
quietness. It is drawn from a
left to right.
c. Diagonal Line – a line suggests
a feeling of movement or
direction. I t may look like it is
rising or falling from left to
right , or rising or falling from
right to left.

d. Zigzag Line – a combination of

connected diagonal lines going
in opposite directions. It
creates excitement and intense
movement.
e. Broken Line – It is a series of
dashes.
2. Curve Line – These are bent lines that suggest a feeling of comfort and
safety.

Kinds of Curve Lines

a. Convex Line – a line that is
curved or rounded outward like
the outside of a circle.

b. Concave Line – may look like a

series of overlapping convex
forms.

c. Spiral curve – a circling curved

line around a fixed point.

d. Scroll – a curve whose both

ends consist of spirals facing
opposite directions.

e. Compound curve– a curve whose

centers are on the same side.
