Birth is the start, the beginning, and the day a person gains consciousness of the world and everything in it. The birth is also the beginning of
one’s ignorance, where curiosity kicks in and actions and its consequences are learned little by little as we grow. Actions are the things we do
with a purpose of achieving a goal, but it is also the things we do naturally and or inevitable because it’s out of our control, such as breathing or
eating. Acts of man are instinctual and physiological in nature. These are actions done in light of the current situation of obliviousness, energy,
dread, viciousness, and propensities. Acts that are performed by men without being master of them through his will, consequently acts of man
are enforceable actions like digestion, growing, bodily reactions and visual or auditory perceptions. I, myself, am experiencing these actions
and trust me I have tried to stop it, and realized it is natural because my body needed those to function. In contrast, an act that is performed
only by a human being and thus is proper to man is what we call “Human Act”. Human Acts are different from Acts of man. We cannot talk
about the rightness and wrongness of an act if we are dealing with acts of man. Only with human acts can we determine whether an act is
moral or not. Human acts are done with intellect, will, knowledge and consent which makes us the father of our acts when we act in a
deliberate manner. Here, an individual can make a conscious decision whether or not to carry out that act like stealing, going on a vacation,
helping a beggar or cheating, these has purpose and done with their own free will. Modifiers of human or the obstacles of human act. These
are factors or conditions that affect human acts in the essential qualities of knowledge, freedom and voluntariness. They influence people's
understanding of and freedoms associated with their actions. There are five modifiers of human act; ignorance, passion, fear, violence, and
habit. Ignorance, the absence of knowledge which a person is capable to possess. The kind of ignorance happens when a person really wants
and chooses to be ignorant so that he/she can eventually escape any accountability arising from the wrongfulness of the act later on.
Therefore, the person concerned remains morally responsible of his action, whether good or bad, right or wrong. For example, A nurse who
has strong doubts about the medicine administered to a patient upon doctor’s orders and yet does not consult a doctor when it could be easily
done. Passion can be defined as a strong human impulse and or tendencies toward the possession of something. It is something that triggers
strong emotions, like love, anger and sadness that allows to do and feel certain things. Take this as an example, a guy was jealous of his friend
and this jealousy intensifies his anger leading him to hurt his friend. Another example is, a boy lost his dog for weeks and a news said his dog
died already, the loss made the boy feel sadness and cried. Fear is the disturbance of the mind caused by the thought of a threatening evil;
unpleasant feeling of anxiety or danger. It may be imaginary or for real. A distinction should be made between an act done with fear from an act
done because of fear. Only in acts done because of fear can fear be considered as a modifier of human act. An example for an act done with
fear is when there is an intruder in your house, even if you fear a gun and never used one, you shot the intruder and saved your life. And an
example for an act done out of fear is when there is a robbery inside the store you are in and the robber is pointing a gun at you, out of fear you
are forced to surrender all your valuables to them. Acts done with fear are voluntary while acts done because of fear are involuntary. Violence
is any physical force exerted on a person by another person for the purpose of compelling that person to act against his/her will; any act where
great and brutal force is inflicted. If the violence is irresistible, we are not responsible for the act. Example is torture, rape and mutilation. If a
person’s resistance towards the act is ineffective, there is no obligation to resist. Last modifier, the habit, habit is a constant and easy way of
doing things acquired by the regularly and persistently of the same act; similar to addiction, obsession, practice or tradition. It may be good or
bad; habit as virtue (e.g., Random act of kindness, meditation or exercise), and vice (e.g., Drinking/smoking excessively, cramming, and lying).
A person is morally accountable of his action if he allows a habit to determine his conduct. A deliberately admitted habit does not lessen
voluntariness; the person is still morally responsible for the act because it suggests approval of all the consequences which he/she is aware of.
Acts can be in themselves, by their very nature, good or bad or indifferent.
The circumstances are those that contribute to increase or diminish the goodness or evil of an action. At the end of the day, people are born
with rights and it is important to know what these rights are and how will they benefit you. If you are born with rights, this mean that others are
too; putting yourself into their situation will allow you to understand each other and avoid evil and do good. Adios and gracias!
