Search-Insight

Day 3: GOD

Activity Name: Backread

*THIS IS NOT A SCRIPT, RATHER A GUIDE.*

I. Preliminaries (slightly revised to be flexible based on different answers of participants)

a) Join the first two days of search-insight as an observer, preferably
introduce yourself and turn on your camera, to gather significant
resources from the participants. Said resources will be utilized for the
activity to further the impact of search-insight and its lessons to the
participants. Such resources can be:
 Name
 Past Experiences
 Mannerisms/ Body Language
 Attitude
 Attentiveness
 Current Achievements/Struggles

b) On the day of the activity, make a final observation of the

participants and start talking comfortably to set a certain mood. Tell
them that this is the last day of the online retreat and that they are in
for a day of solace. If the participants are not responding as expected,
utilize the gathered information to create a connection that will result
into them opening up, easing the tension. Other ways for the
participants to open up are the following:
 Tell a personal experience with the online retreat or
search-in in general.
 Joke around with the participants.
 Share interest/ hobbies that you might share with the
participants.
 Establish a friend to friend connection rather than a
facilitator-participant relationship.

II. Mechanics (slightly revised to be flexible based on different answers of participants)

a) After establishing a comfortable connection, carefully ask the
participant to choose their favored day so you can divide the
participants by Day 1 & Day 2, you can then ask their favourite
activity. Learn the why’s and how they will apply the lessons learned
in their everyday life. If the participants find it difficult to remember the
former activities, help them remember by stating the said activities by
day and informing them on what happened.

b) Succeeding the sharing of the favored day and activities, state

the true lesson of the former and latter. If the search-insighters did
mention the true lesson, further the explanation for the others to
understand. The lessons/ themes of the days are the following:
 Day 1 is focused on themselves, symbolizing that it is okay to
focus on ourselves first before we switch our attention to
others.
 Day 2 is focused is focused on Others/Family.
The summary of the lessons of the activities are then the following:
 Innocence: baby pictures reflecting his/her personal decision
on how a person can still make changes for them in order to
be what they’ve always wanted or even what God would’ve
wanted for him or her to be.
 Recess: Taking a break is not bad, sometimes hitting the
pause button can put everything in perspective and that can
lead to breakthrough It's just like holding a cup of water for a
long period of time, yes it's just a small amount of water but as
time pass by it gets heavier and more tiring, and what's the
solution? put the cup down and just take a rest. Everything will
be better.
 Facade: Hiding emotions can be very tough, strength doesn't
always mean looking presentable and strong to everyone else,
sometimes strength is also accepting the fact that you are just
a human, you have weaknesses and that's okay. We are all
strong in our own way. Weaknesses are meant to be worked
on, and your strengths are meant to be polished.
 Perception: We all have individual baggage that we don't
want the whole world to know. Venting it out is the only way to
get rid of the burden. And we are willing to unpack those
baggage for you. A mask isn't always an answer, we are given
a voice to be used and we're thankful you voiced out your
thoughts and we hope it all made you feel better.

III. Processing
a) Today, we have come to the end of this 3-day online retreat. During
the first day, we reminisced who we were during our adolescent days
and compared who we were back then and who we are at this
moment, thus making us realize how having self-awareness is
important as we go on with our lives.
b) On the second day, we learned how our friends, family and other
people tend to present a facade of themselves even in times of
struggles, with that thought, let us open our hearts and allow them to
feel protected for we will be by their side and will face tough
challenges ahead of us, together.
c) As we look back at the different activities that happened throughout
the whole retreat, specifically the importance of oneself, family and
God. We may have had shortcomings for we were not able to fully
give you the real search-in experience but we continue to carry out
these valuable lessons for you to remember while finding different
paths of your life in the future. From being a lost individual during this
difficult times to an individual who fosters a positive and strong image
of life and who recognize how we transition or changed ourselves due
to the challenges we have faced in life which shaped who and what
we are. We have come through this process not only as an individual
or as a group, but as part of one Lasallian community.
d) There’s also a reason as to why you chose that specific activity to be
your favorite among the rest. Maybe deep inside you have related
much with the insights that the activity carries. This only shows that
you have been successful in joining Search-Insight. Congratulations!
