Task 2

Today’s society has two main career paths: being an employee or being self-
employed. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, and the decision to choose one over
the other depends on individual preferences and priorities. I agree that it is better to be an
employee than to be self-employed. Being an employee provides opportunities for career
growth, a stable income and a better work-life balance.
First and foremost, being an employee provides opportunities for career growth and
advancement. Most organizations provide training, mentoring, and development opportunities
to help employees improve their skills and advance their careers. Employees can also benefit
from the networking opportunities and connections available through their employers. In
short, employees do not have to rely solely on their resources for personal and professional
growth.
Secondly, being an employee provides a stable income and financial security. An
employee receives a regular salary and benefits, such as health insurance, retirement plans,
and paid time off. This ensures a predictable income stream, which can help to reduce
financial stress and provide a sense of security. On the other hand, self-employed individuals
often have to deal with irregular income, and unpredictable cash flows and are responsible for
their benefits, which can be a significant source of stress. To summarise, being an employee
can live a leisurely life without worrying about income.
Lastly, being an employee provides a better work-life balance. Employees typically
work fixed hours and can expect to leave work at the end of their shift, allowing them to
prioritize their personal lives outside of work. In contrast, self-employed individuals often
have to work long hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet deadlines and manage
their workload. This can lead to a lack of work-life balance and increased stress. To conclude,
being an employee is less stressful as the employee can relax after work.
In a nutshell, while there are advantages to being self-employed, such as greater
autonomy and control over one's work, being an employee provides opportunities for career
growth, more stability and better work-life balance. Therefore, for those seeking financial
security, a better work-life balance, and a more supportive work environment, being an
employee is the better choice.
