Chapter 3

METHODOLOGY

This chapter describes and discusses how the researchers will gather the

necessary data and information that will be used in the entire study. This

discusses the research design, its sampling technique, the sources of data, the

research instrument, and the data gathering procedure.

Research Design

The researchers used the comparative method of research that involves at

least two cases or units of analysis and prepared a questionnaire for respondents

to answer the questions for us to describe the data and

characteristics of the subjects being studied. The use of this method is to further

the researchers' understanding of the comparison of Photopea and Adobe

Illustrator.

Sampling Technique

The researchers used a Stratified Sampling Technique for selecting the

participants in this study because it allows for a more precise and targeted

selection of participants for the study. With this sampling technique, the

researchers can ensure that the respondents are representative of the population

of ICT students who use Adobe Illustrator and Photopea, and therefore the

results of the study can be more accurately generalized to this population

Research Instrument

The research instrument comprises two parts. The first part collects

respondents profiles, including their name (optional), age, grade level, gender

and preferred application. The second part of the research instrument is plotted

into three categories which are quality, user-friendly, and availability. In this part,
the respondents will put a checkmark on what is the most effective editing

application based on their own experience. It consists of thirty (30) checkboxes

with a series of statements that respondents must check to indicate their level of

agreement, ranging from choosing between two applications.

Sources of Data

The researchers construct a survey questionnaire as the data collection

instrument of the study. The researchers are able to ensure that the sample of ICT

students who study at ACLC and use these two applications are given

questionnaires that are representatives of the subgroups of ICT. The researchers

target sample in this research is twenty five (25) females and twenty five (25)

males for a total of fifty (50). The respondents are required to give their age,

grade level and gender but the name is optional, and their preferred application is

between Photopea and Adobe Illustrator.

Data Gathering

This study was conducted during the school year 2022 – 2023 at AMA

Computer Learning Center and it was considered the following technical

procedure. The researchers constructed a questionnaire checklist, validated by

the professor of the subject then the questionnaire checklists are distributed. To

determine the effects of these two applications, questionnaires devised by the

researchers were divided into 3 categories with 5 questions each, with a total of

30 items.

The researchers had allotted vigorous time, effort and cooperation in

developing their questionnaire so as to serve its intended respondents. The

survey was created using suitable questions modified from related research and
individual questions formed by the researchers. It was conducted between the

two variables, namely – Adobe Illustrator and Photopea.

The researchers explains to the respondents the importance of their

response to the study. The researchers clarify some terms to the respondents so

that the respondents can answer the questionnaire with full knowledge of their

responsibility as the subject of the study.

Before the researchers conduct a survey they ask a permission first.

From their teacher by writing a letter and letting their school director know that

the researchers will conduct a survey regarding these two applications. The

researchers got their first twenty-five (25) respondents in the morning, with

thirteen (13) males and twelve (12) females, and twenty-five(25) respondents in

the afternoon, with twelve (12) males and thirteen (13) females for the total of

fifty (50) respondents. To ensure that the respondents match the researchers'

required sample, the researchers asked each ICT student whether they use Adobe

Illustrator and Photopea or not before handing out the questionnaire for the

respondents to answer. Once the survey is finished, 19 the researchers compile

all of the answers and submit them to the subject adviser for checking.
