What do I need?
You will need a compatible IT system to attempt the on-line exam on.

Important note
This examination is closed book

How do I make a start?

You should:
• Have been given appropriate learning before you attempt the on-line examination
• Be briefed on what is involved and expected of you

03 ET2-001AB: Practical Assessment
Why am I doing this assessment?
To demonstrate that you will:
• Understand the requirements of an engineering organisation in meeting health and safety
legislation and regulations.

How do I Pass?
Within the allocated guided learning hours for the unit you must correctly complete Practical
Assessment ET2-001AB.

You will be assessed on both the planning of the lift and the actual lift itself. Make a plan/list of how you
are going to tackle this assessment on your Report sheet. Include evidence of:
• Completing a risk assessment
• How you have assessed the load’s weight/size, is it safe to lift, etc
• How many people are to be involved in the lift
• How you have planned the route
• The techniques used/aides required
• Any PPE requirements.

You must have the plan approved by your tutor/assessor.

You must:
• Move a load using the correct manual handling procedure

What do I need?
You will need:
• A load (this will be provided by your Tutor/Assessor)
• Appropriate PPE
• A blue or black pen (if completing your report using a paper copy)
• PDF reading software (if completing your report electronically)
• Assessment ET2-001AB specification
• Access to any relevant support/reference material (this could include notes).

How do I make a start?

You should:
• Have been given appropriate learning before you attempt the practical assessment
• Be briefed on what is involved and expected of you
• Be fully prepared for the assessment.

You must work in a safe manner whilst carrying out the practical activity within this assessment. Any
safety requirements must being included within your report.

You must use the correct manual handling procedures when moving objects within the workshop. Any
movement of objects must be included in your report with a description of the process used.

Appropriate PPE must be worn at all times.

Note: Ask your tutor to help you if you are unsure of any points or terms used.
