Learning strategies Opening Activities Warm up: Chatterbox challenge: Confident talkers in the class will love this game. Write some topics on the board and number them. Then get learners to roll a dice- whatever number they land on, they have to speak about the matching topic for a set amount of time, maybe one minute or two. If they run out of things to say before the time is up, they lose the challenge. A great activity to develop speaking skills and vocabulary. You could use this beautifully made topic cards to encourage speaking! Review/ Prior Knowledge: write on the board: big, young, cold, ugly and dirty. tell students to write the comparatives of these using the comparing words (7 mins) Presentation of New content: V: new vocabulary postcard, city, safer, amazing, expensive, nicer, better, Attraction, tomorrow (5 mins) Middle Activities: Controlled/ Free practice Listening: Speaking: invite the students to repeat the new vocabulary, after the teacher say each word (5 mins) Differentiated Activities: Closing Activities Reading: read the postcard about León, Nicaragua with the students. Talk about Lizzie´s vacation with the class And clarify any issues, first the teacher reads the postcard, after invite the students to pass in front and read (10 kins) Writing: read the postcard again.
