organization, and development.

What is Expository Writing, Forms, and characteristics
The most common writing genre you will
come across throughout your day. Its
characteristics consists of detailed
information and explanation about a
specific topic, uses an effective
introduction and conclusions, has a well-
organized structure, uses a variety of
sentence structures and transitions, and
lastly, it uses effective and error-free
sentence structures.

How important is the presentation of detailed and relevant


evidence and references?

It was also said that it is essential to present alternatives and


counter arguments. Why?

Nice. In any other essay, it is important use a clear


organization of the paragraphs, a clear conclusion, and an
effective and error-free sentence structures. That is why it is
advisable to check or proofread your work.

Let's now proceed to the forms of Persuasive Writing. The


first one is Persuasive essay or Argumentative essay. What is
it? Kindly reead Ms_________.
Aims to influence the attitudes or actions of
a specific audience on specific issues.

It tries to provide definite arguments that proves ones point


that makes you think or agree to what they are trying to prove.

Next is Editorial, please read Mr______________.


Editorials state the opinion of the editors
and publishers of news organizations.
When an Editorial uses the word we because it represents the
opinion of the staff. One example is the title "Is there a Santa
Claus?" Everyone please read.
Is there a Santa Clause?

We take pleasure in answering at once and

One example is what we had just read about Is there a Santa

Next is an Op-ed or opposite editorial. Please read

It is a piece of an essay that tries to
convince readers to agree with the writer's
views on an issue. The writer may not work
for the publication and is often an expert on
the issue or has an interesting point of
view.
This is an example.

Next is Reviews. Reviews evaluate items and activities, such


as books and movies from the writer's point of view. While
Propaganda uses emotional appeals and often biased, false, or
misleading information to persuade people to think or act in a
certain way.

Next is Advertisement. What do we mean by to Advertise?

Advertisement is paid announcements that


try to convince people to buy something or
sometimes to do something.

This is an exercise used in business to help you think fast and


get your point across. It’s all about choosing and using words
carefully and persuasively to achieve your goals in any

Activity 2: Elevator Pitch


Instruction: You must convincingly “pitch” an idea, concept,
product/service or proposal in the time it takes to ride an elevator
(about 30 to 60 seconds) so this is a timed exercise. Make some

that the product is effective and believably useful.
