Rationale

Statement of the Problem

This paper aims to identify should cases of workplace bullying occurs within
DepEd Botolan District. Specifically, the study will look in to the following:

1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of:

1.1 sex;

1.2 age;

1.3 designation.

2. How do the respondents describe the occurrence of workplace bullying per their
experience in terms of:

2.1 manner of bullying;

2.2 frequency of bullying;

2.3 most common aggressor/bully.

3. Is there a significant relationship between work satisfaction and workplace bullying


experience among DepEd Botolan District Personnel?

4. Is there a significant relationship between workplace bullying experience and work
satisfaction?

Hypothesis (Quantitative Research Only)

There is no significant relationship between workplace bullying and work

satisfaction among DepEd Botolan District personnel?

Significance of the Study

The study aims to verify whether bullying happens within the Botolan District as

perceived and experienced by the personnel. At the same time, the paper intends to

decipher the effects of workplace bullying, should this be indeed happening, to the

overall job satisfaction of the respondents.

The findings of this paper may prove useful to:

School Administration/School Heads. The results may act as the foundation

of School Heads in acknowledging the existence of workplace bullying within the

organization, as well as the basis in crafting policies that will handle cases of bullying,

and eventually total riddance of any like incidents in the future.

Teaching and Nonteaching School Personnel. This paper hopes to protect

the personnel in any occasion of bullying specially in their respective workplaces.

Implementing policies against workplace bullying will foster a healthy and happy work

environment, ensuring a good mental health and overall wellbeing of the employees.

Type of Study

A quantitative research design will be used to carry out this study to describe,

analyze, and interpret data concerning the

Shuttleworth (2008) stated that descriptive research design is a valid method for

researching specific subjects and as a precursor to more quantitative studies. Whereas,

there are some valid concerns about the statistical validity, as long as the limitations are

understood by the researcher, this type of study is a valuable scientific tool.

This paper will be tapping the DepEd Botolan personnel to answer survey

questionnaire that is designed to answer the research problems. Specifically, the

Data gathered through the responses specified in the survey-questionnaire will be

tallied, tabulated and analyzed using the statistical software Statistical Package for

Social Sciences (version 20). The following statistical tools will be used in the analysis

and interpretation of data and hypothesis testing: frequency counts, percentage,

weighted mean, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Likert Scale, and Cronbach’s alpha.
