Standard Operating Procedure General

SP-04 Quarantine

1.0 Purpose
1.1 The purpose of this Procedure is to prevent non-conforming goods being issued
and used in contracts in accordance with the Company policy.

2.0 Scope
2.1 This Procedure describes the method of acceptance of goods that do not conform
totally to the requirements of the purchase order in a controlled manner at various
Company sites.

3.0 Personnel Involved


 Contracts Manager/Project Engineer
 Purchasing Manager
 Site Manager
 Site / Stores Supervisor

4.0 Responsibilities
4.1 The Contracts Manager/Project Engineer is responsible for the effective operation
of this procedure.
4.2 The Managing Director is responsible for ensuring that this procedure is adhered
to
4.3 The Site / Stores Supervisor who assumes direct responsibility for the site in the
absence of a site manager, is responsible for ensuring that this standard operating
procedure is adhered to.
4.4 All other responsibilities are defined within the procedure.

5.0 Procedure for Quarantine


5.1 Quarantine
5.1.1 When goods are received that do not conform totally to the requirements of the
purchase order, they are transferred from the set down area to the quarantine
area which is individually marked and located within the stores.

5.1.2 They are marked with a quarantine number which is issued from the "Goods to
Quarantine"

5.1.3 This log contains the following information: - log numbers, order numbers, job
numbers, date to quarantine, number of boxes, description of contents, reason
for quarantine, initials, date when released to job or stock and initials
5.1.4 When they are released to the job or released into stock the "Goods to
Quarantine" log is marked with the date and the initials of the person issuing
the goods
5.1.5 When they are returned to the supplier in accordance with Non-conformance
procedure MP10, the log is similarly dated and signed
