ACTIVITY 1. ANSWER THE FOLLOWING ESSAY QUESTIONS.

1. WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF STUDYING GLOBALIZATION?

Knowledge about the subject is important enough reason to learn about it and
why it’s not only important, it is also necessary. With the knowledge about
globalization, you will learn about the making of the modern world and with this
knowledge alone, you will know why you are in that social class and will at least
get an idea how you would change it. Learning about globalization will truly
broaden your horizon and make you open your eyes to the world, just like “a frog
in a well” you could say learning about globalization would make it your first step
to get out of the well.

2. WHY IS THE WORD “GLOBALIZATION” GIVEN IMPORTANCE IN TODAY’S

CONTEMPORARY WORLD?

That “word” is important because we are in a time of a globally interdependent

world and without globalization, we wouldn’t have survived this ever changing
forces of mother nature and we certainly wouldn’t achieved “world peace” or at
least what they like to defined to as “not mindlessly killing each other but having a
peaceful talk while having a their weapon pointing at each other” . As it is our
present, it would be our way of future too as we slowly integrate into one entity
optimized for long term survival. You could say it’s the vessel mankind uses to
fulfil one’s individual its “raison d’être”. Truly a symbol of mankind’s ability to
adapt and it’s unshaken will and tenacity to survive.

3. HOW DO ECONOMIC FORCES FACILITATE THE DEEPENING OF
GLOBALIZATION?

Based on what I’ve read, the economic forces would be the factors that
determine an enterprise’s volume of demand for its product and affect its
marketing strategies and activities. That factors would be the unemployment
level, the inflation rate, the fiscal policies and the government changes. From
what I’ve understood, This economic forces facilitate the deepening of
globalization by being the centrepiece of the economy in which the economy is
crucial to globalization. For example, the unemployment level, if the
unemployment level is low, that would mean the economy is healthy and growing
which gives a company or a business an opportunity to expand whether
domestically or globally thus deepening the globalization.

4. HOW IS THE PHILIPPINES CENTRAL TO THE HISTORY OF ECONOMIC

GLOBALIZATION?

The Philippines could be called as one of the poorest country in the world.
Although Philippines is slow on financial globalization, it is very prominent in the
trade and migration globalization. Slow it may be, the progress of it’s
improvement in the economy is still very impressive. Going back to the past,
Philippines was already exposed in globalization in it’s infancy and according to
Hawkley E. (2014). The beginning of the Philippines' sovereignty was evidence of
the beginnings of globalization. In his study, he claimed that the Philippines'
collision of Atlantic, East Asian, and Indian trades creates a global monocultural
network of cultures, commerce, and influences. This makes the Philippines as
one a the centrepiece on the history of economic globalization.
