The preservation ethic is one based solely on the idea that all nature must be preserved for its

own sake and purely for the aesthetic and enjoyment of it that can be obtained from viewing it,

not damaging it in any way. Conversely, the conservation ethic takes the idea that we should use

nature’s resources in a way that provides the greatest benefit for all, while physically using it in a

way that, while more exploitative than the preservation ethic, still aims to preserve nature for

future generations.
