My favorite festival is Tet.

Tet, also known as the Lunar New Year festival holiday, is one of
the most important festivals in Vietnam. Tet usually takes place in late January or early
February. Tet holiday usually lasts from 7 to 9 days. Before Tet, every member of the family
cleans the house, fields and gardens. They also decorate the house with couplets and peach
or apricot flowers. During Tet, some families enjoy this festival by preparing traditional
dishes such as banh chung, dried fruit jam, braised meat and eggs, etc.(et cetera) to give
them wishes pray for good fortunes in the next year. For Vietnamese people, Tet is an
occasion for them to reunite after 12 months of hard work outside. To prepare for the
important Tet holiday of this year, each family often buys many new furnitures, tidies up
their home and prepares a tray of rice traditional dishes/food to worship the ancestors. And
yet Moreover, on the traditional New Year day, there is a custom to visit the elderly,
relatives, friends and villages neighbors every time Tet comes and Spring comes. At that
time, homeowners or adults will give lucky money to children and the elderly with the New
Year wishes of peace, prosperity, and everything. This is not only a custom but also a
cultural beauty of the Vietnamese people, showing their concern and hope for a peaceful
and prosperous life for everyone.
